Pretty sure the most efficient even with the dlc, the second generation near the "Palace approach ledge road site of Grace" is the best rune farming.

Bleed weapon. Smack Greyoll in the shin for a few minutes. Pop a gold foot the moment she dies. Look up Greyoll and gold foot location.

kill greyoll with a bleed weapon, as soon as his hp hits zero jump on torrent and rush back to the grace, if you sit there in time he will stay alive and you will get the runes, rinse & repeat (with gold fowl foot, preferably)

Mohg's palace and just do a big aoe attack on the Albinaurics such as wave of gold.

play offline, disable EAC and use cheat engine. You can go back online once you got your runes.

Place a summon sign and help people kill Mohg

Might not be the fastest though
