How can you tell where a scadutree fragment is?

I don't want to Google the specific locations, but how do I tell if X boss drops a fragment or this particular location has a fragment? Is it hit or miss when I can legit kill a boss or if I stumble into a fragment? Basically, does this mean I might have to keep stumbling randomly into fragments if I can't kill a boss? Idk if I'm legit bad or if I need more fragments.

I just killed the Golden Hippo and explored the church prior to the keep to find myself a fragment. I'm around level 7 blessing. I can competently play the base game, but not the DLC. As such I'm curious about figuring out the signs where a blessing might be but not specifically locations if that makes sense.

You just have to explore. Every cross have at least 1 and level 7 is really decent for second or third boss.

Some are also just in random locations in the world or drop off different enemy types.

The Scadutree fragments are really strewn about the environment pretty randomly. It's a painful system. Make sure you visit the Southern Coast for a few fragments (accessible from the beginning). Also keep an eye out for shadow guys carrying pots which have a shine to them - those guys drop fragments sometimes as well. Level 7 at Golden Hippo is about right.

If you wanna get them all you can follow a guide. i did that and it took me maybe 30 minutes at most to get the ones I missed. If you haven't gotten near the end of the dlc it's not a big deal but you'll definitely want most if not all of them collected for the final boss.

If you manage to kill Commander Gaius, I used a big weapon to stagger him and stay aggressive, there are 5 fragments behind him

Also, if you don’t end up finding all of them. They respawn every ng cycle, so you can top off really quick, during your next run.

I know some of them can be found at the churches. So look around for anything on the map resembling church shape, that should get you a few at least.

What level should I attempt Shadowkeep? I'm at level 9. I have a feeling Messmer's the boss here. From what little I read, he's like Morgott in terms of bridging mid-game and end-game content in the base game.

I haven't bothered progressing this because I've been trying to find more fragments, I think I might go back since I can't beat Bayle at blessing level 9, lol.
