Deathblight Ruins the Game
That's obvious, isn't it? You play the hero and some stupid beast spits on you and if you have 90% HP you die. Even a bad game deigner would see that there is a problem here, right? If you want to ruin a game dnn do something stupid like that

it wasn't supposed to be so quick to build up just like every other status effect. the devs can't do math. game was released and the player base accepted it for what it was and the devs had no incentive to fix it.

Problem solution is actually simple make it like madness. When it erupts, it makes dmg but doesn't kill if you have enough HP

You should be glad it's not frenzy or terror from Sekiro.

Why can't you just evade those attacks?

That would just make it another burst damage status effect like bleed and frost. What seems to be your issue with Deathblight exactly?

You're not a hero, if you came into this game wanting to feel like one, you're in the wrong genre. Deathblight is also the easiest status to avoid, so this might be a combination of you not leveling vitality and a skill issue. I got cursed one time in DS1 (which is comparable to deathblight but worse) and never again after that because I understood the effect should be avoided at all costs. Deathblight (and curse in earlier iterations) is what adds high stakes to fighting certain enemies like Basilisks, which is exciting since you can't just slurp your OJ until the effect is gone. If it was just like madness then how is it any different from it except for thematics? The greatest trick that was ever played on gamers was making them believe they understood game design just because they play games.

Well said.

enemies that release deathblight aren't very common, and even when you find them they usually have low poise and low health so they can easily be killed if you rush into them, I really don't see a problem with it, it's been in every previous souls game (not to mention there is a talisman that increases resistance to it)

Get yourself the beast repellent torch from the isolated merchant in north caelid. Basilisks won´t attack if you have it in your hands though do not stand too long next to them because they will still aggro after a short moment.

basilisks are imo more annoying in DS1, because the curse meter fills up a lot quicker from my experience. they're really not that bad in elden ring

they absolutely are, especially since you stay debuffed after death and dying carried heavier consequences in general

even so it's literally something that happens once and then you just make sure it doesnt happen again

Curse is so much worse in Dark Souls than Death Blight ever was. People in Elden Ring have it easy. Just obtain and wear Prince of Death's Pustule whenever you enter an area with it, also once you defeat Radahn you can access an area with Order Healing, which is very low-requirement and removes all buildup.
Come on, I'm begging you, this is supposed to put the so-called hero under pressure so that he really has to use all his movement and fighting skills to overcome the situation. Actually, you should be happy that there are trash mobs with mechanics like this in the game world. I mean what else do you want, everything to be a one-hit without the slightest danger to you? If so, then why play a Souls-like game?

Did you know that Bruce Lee, the greatest fighter in human history, died from an allergic reaction? Yes, it is a realistic scenario. An infection can kill even the biggest and strongest man.

Rest in peace Bruce :_(
