Where can I get my first int weapon?
Trying to search for this and it's just a pita. I don't want the best nor do I want to run far away from Limgrave. I just want a single upgrade for my int caster. I've found tons of str stuff but not a single caster item.

Do you want a better staff? A weapon that scales with INT? Both, maybe?
SHOCKNUTZ Apr 29, 2024 @ 3:12pm
you'll be looking at staffs.
https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Glintstone+Staffs

if you are asking about a weapon with magic infinity here is a list under "weapons"
https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Magic+Damage

here's an ash of war that you can find in limgrave that applies magic scaling
https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Ash+of+War:+Gravitas
apply it to your short sword or other weapon and it will scale with your intelligence.

I'm not that picky honestly. I just feel a bit annoyed that I've literally played this game for 6 hours and haven't gotten a single upgrade yet.

What weapon are you using now? Astrologer Staff? There's not a lot of staffs in the game, at least compared to melee weapons. If playing with Sorceries, you should focus getting better spells in the early game.

There is the Demi-Human Queen's Staff you can find early in the Weeping Peninsula.

You need stones to upgrade your current weapon. There is a better staff to get right away if you know where to find it. But at lot of the int staves aren't direct upgrades, it depends on your build and what spells you use.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I will try them.

I don't have a build. I just have staff + spell + int. I'm getting the feeling if I want to enjoy the loot I should probably just reroll to str? Upgrading my starter staff instead of using new loot sounds pretty boring. Not bad but perhaps not what I expected.

Maybe it's just the early game that's sparse?

Moonveil or Meteorite staff both in Caelid(recommended level for that area is above 50 or 60), which can be reached from Limgrave in the North East part of it. Staff doesn't require you to fight any enemies, moonveil(katana) is a boss reward in dungeon that has exit in Limgrave (meaning it's quite easy to reach but not so easy to get?). There is also Death's Poker. Yet another int weapon, reward from a boss.

The First Int Weapon is a Ash of War, found at the isolated Beach in Limgrave, South of where you come out. You need to be on Torrent & jump down a Air current. Down there there is a Gravity Mob, who will drop Gravitas.

Gravitas can be equiped to any infusable weapon bigger then a Dagger. It will lower all stat scaling but add magic DMG & Int scaling. The Skill itself is a big AoE that pulls mobs & enemies towards you. It does not do a lot of DMG itself but will bring flying mobs like Bats & Birds down.

Also, across the bridge and up the hill to your left, you'll see a carriage being pulled by trolls. There is nothing for you at the carriage but in the ruins up the hill, there is a Boss. This Boss guards the first magic teacher you can find in the game, Sellen. You can give her Mage scrolls to learn more advance Spells. There are 3 Scrolls in total, the first one being South of Sellen, on top of another set of ruins. Be wary here as one of the Mobs, isolated on a lower Cliff is a Decoy, hiding a Rune Bear.

As other have Mention, Meteor Staff is the best Staff for most of the game. You cannot upgrade it but it will compete whit +18 Upgraded Staffs (+7 Somber Upgrades). Rock Sling, found close to the staff is a superb spell that does not deal Magic DMG, this will come in handy because the zone after Limgrave is "The Mage" Zone of the game. You need only 18 Int to use the Meteor Staff & Rock Sling.

this isn't wow. if you are using a staff as a caster there are a select number of staffs to choose from, like the page i provided in my first reply. the difference between the staffs are their boost to specific classes of spells. you're not going to find a staff that has +2 intellect or something and discard your previous staff throughout the game.

your staff is used to cast. in your staffs stats it will show scaling. to boost the damage of your spells you need to upgrade your staff your spells receive a % boost.

ah and google and go grap Karian Slicer
Vinnolo Apr 29, 2024 @ 5:21pm
there is a crystal dagger and carian knight sword in liurnia if you want to travel all the way over there to get it, otherwise use ashes like gravitas to turn most weapons to int scaling weapons

you also can easily get your first magic Ash of War not far from Seaside Ruin site of grace (Gravitas).
use it to apply magic affinity to your weapon of choice. that should be enough to slay anything in Limgrave.

Tons of spells in the game, maybe not early game. Don't respec to strength if you're wanting to play magic - we dont want your kind. Your base loadout is going to be good enough for awhile - just upgrade your staff and weapon with smithing stones.
