Scadutree Blessing - Which is it?
I'm constantly finding conflicting arguments. I think people need to make up their mind about this.

Do blessing matter or do they not?
If they don't matter, and you still get 1-2 shot, then why collect them?
If they don't matter, then ignoring the blessings should be an option, thus putting more emphasis on your character build and ability to react to and recognize attack patterns. So the argument of "boring, forced level system" is mute.

On the other hand if they do matter, then it should have a good impact on how well your character performs and how many hits you can take - making the game easier.

Which is it?

blessings matter but people are salty.

without the blessings, the dlc is extremely unforgiving
with the blessings, the dlc is just unforgiving

mathematically speaking, the blessings make a big difference in your damage in/out numbers.

people who say they don't matter are generally upset they don't make the dlc easy - so they deny it does anything at all.
People who think they don't matter understand neither basic math, nor basics of this game.

At blessing lvl 20 you get somewhere around 45 additional dmg negation across the board while wearing medium armor which in my case ends up in 67% of overall dmg just vanishing and after eating a crab it's above 70%

It does seem like it's a mismatch between expectation and reality that makes people say these things. Compounded by frustration from the high difficulty of the bosses in general.

In the open world you do notice the difference, against bosses not as much. Light armor wearers/squishy builds notice the biggest change as blessings can get you around 60% resistance alone. Not to sure on the exact number as i don't have all the fragments yet :bonfire2:

That sounds to me like it matters a lot.
Just read the ingame description of the Scadutree Fragments or the popup tutorial message. People that unironically think they don't matter need to get a new hobby. Though if they have this much trouble comprehending things, then I'm sure they live a genuinely rough life while they think their troubles are due to "outside factors."

i mean they're passive upgrades, they obviously matter.

its like saying "levels dont matter", which are also passive upgrades, albeit a more natural one.

i don't think they should exist and it should simply be based upon your level, like base game, but it is what it is.

Try replicating your build here and change the Scadutree Blessing to see how much it affects weapon AR and damage negation

These kind of bonuses are hard to notice on its own but they get very obvious when you start combining other defensive boosting gear, talismans, spells and boiled crab item.

I share your opinion, but then you read the reviews that say that they don't matter, because the bosses still take you down in 1-2 hits. Which doesn't sound right to me.

Thanks, this is helpful!
without 18 blessings my sword does 785 damage, with 18 blessings it does 1491 damage

without 18 blessings my resistances are in the 20 to 40 range, with 18 blessings they are in the 55 to 70 range

is there a difference in taking 30% less damage and doing almost twice the damage? I kinda think there is

On low level blessing you'll get bodied by the end-dlc mobs, at lvl 20 you still can get bodied but it takes more than 2 hits. They just hit like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ meteor

That makes much more sense from a supposed 30% dmg negation.
