without the blessings, the dlc is extremely unforgiving
with the blessings, the dlc is just unforgiving
mathematically speaking, the blessings make a big difference in your damage in/out numbers.
people who say they don't matter are generally upset they don't make the dlc easy - so they deny it does anything at all.
It does seem like it's a mismatch between expectation and reality that makes people say these things. Compounded by frustration from the high difficulty of the bosses in general.
its like saying "levels dont matter", which are also passive upgrades, albeit a more natural one.
i don't think they should exist and it should simply be based upon your level, like base game, but it is what it is.

without 18 blessings my resistances are in the 20 to 40 range, with 18 blessings they are in the 55 to 70 range
is there a difference in taking 30% less damage and doing almost twice the damage? I kinda think there is
