I tried to force myself to like this game
200+ hours is proof of that. I feel weird disliking a game everyone seems to love. The combat is just a little too slow for my liking (lies of p was my intro to soulslikes, so that is my frame of reference). I learned pretty early on that my normal preferred playstyle of block and counter just wasn't going to fly in boss fights. The following 180+ hours were filled with trying new builds, and hoping I'd find one I liked. No luck. Made it to and beat Placidusax so it not that it's too hard. Glad I tried it, so I know I'm not big a fan of Fromsoft's slower gameplay philosophy. Also open world fatigue hit me hard and fast with this game, so maybe I just don't like open world games in general. Objectively a great game, just not for me.

Thats it.....there is nothing else to say other than suggest you to pin your own main post as thread answer. You dont like Elden Ring and thats perfectly ok, go and play something else and have fun.

What's so weird about it? Just because a lot of people happen to like a certain game doesn't mean that your view is not valid. We all have different tastes and preferences, it's not weird to express them.

For the record, I was not able to get into Sekiro - a highly praised game, made by FromSoft as well. Something about it just did not align with me, and I abandoned it about 10 hours in. Does that make me weird? I don't think so.

You did more then put your fair share into this game. While I consider it one of the best games of all time, I understand that the style just isn't for you.

I am not entirely sure while you felt the need to post this, but to each his own...

Nothing wrong with that, I end up disliking 90% the most successful games every year, it happens.

Just play what you enjoy, 200 hours is far too much spent trying to like something that didn't click with you.

I know I was just hoping something would change, the further in I got.

It sounds to me like you gave the game a good solid shot. If it doesn't really toast your biscuit, then that's that.

I can respect that.

If you ever consider this game again, maybe watch some playthroughs to see alternative approaches, there may be one that appeals to you.

I get it. I hate red dead redemption 2 and the witcher series

You just need to accept that it's ok to follow what you actually like and not get ''peer pressured'' into trying to force yourself to like whatever is considered amazing by the majority

This statement right here.

Think long and hard on it. Not trolling, not mocking. Just take some time to dwell on it, and what might be wrong with it.
