Fire Giant
Cant seem to beat this guy. Stopped playing several months ago at that point. Started playing again yesterday. Spent a few hours trying to beat him. Always gets me with one of his Shield Slams or fire in his second phase .Got him down to about 1/5 health a few times. So frustrating. Maybe 103 is just not a high enough level. The Shield is a 1` hit kill. The fire usually kills me before I can get out of it.

Fire Giant is infamous for a lot of players. Huge healthpool, close to everything feels like an aoe and especially the 2nd phase has some very nasty attacks, which seemingly go on forever and might be a death trap, should you get unlucky.

If you feel like you're stuck: rethink your strategy, maybe do something else for a while.
Should you feel like doing some jolly coop, just drop a password :praisesun:

Well its basically attack his foot and try to avoid his attacks. Second phase attack his leg same avoid his attacks. But attacking him can be a death trap second phase because of his fire. If your in there attacking and he starts spamming fire your lucky if you can get Away from him.

The greatest hurdle with Fire Giant is the HP pool, so % damage is very effective.

Bleed if you're ARC,

Black Knife's weapon art if you're DEX,

Blackflame Blade if you're FTH,

Adula's moonblade, Frozen lance or anything with Frostbite if you're INT,

Take off your shirt and wield a slashweapon if you're STR.

Yeah the fire breath he does is just straight up unfair sometimes, I died more than once to it during coop. Also, for some unexplainable reason the stream of fire bounces of every single rock that can be found in the arena and also just goes on forever.

What you could try to do is trying to stagger him in his second phase. Using charged heavy attacks, preferably with something nice and big, while having the Axe and Hammer Talismans equipped will eventually stagger him. Then, instead of riposting him, hack away at his eye, this way you'll inflict more damage during the time he's staggered.

mimic tear, and alexander also make this fight easier, if that hasn't been tried yet.

Even better is Latenna. I just watched her take him down while eating popcorn, though I had to move away occassionaly when he got too close, which wasn't hard with the size of the arena. By far the easiest boss.

does her range have a limit or is it infinite?
What build do you have? Summon Alexander. He doesn't help much but it's worth a try. Maybe you already have this info, but, in his second phase:
- the fire spheres will explode when they are near you. They make a sound when they are about to explode. Run away or or dodge 2-3 times when you hear the sound.
- when he shoots with fire, dodge twice as soon as you see him shooting them. Don't wait.
- run under him when he starts the 'eruption'
- the uplifting aromatic perfume has all Damage Negation +90% until hit. Get 10 of them

There's more beautiful things after him. Don't give up :)

I just beat him as a STR build using a weapon that causes scarlett rot build up - the more consecutive hits i was getting on his leg second phase the damage was building quite high.

If shield hit is a 1HKO, level vigor

If any boss can one shot you with a normal attack, you don't have enough points in vigor. That would seem to be your main problem, mistakes in building your character. Unless you're a super sweaty SL1 pro, Elden Ring requires heavy investment in vigor. 40 as a bare minimum. As a general tip; when you begin a playthrough, you first get the minimum requirement for your weapon then you push vigor to 40 before even thinking about more investment in offensive stats.

I have 40 vigor 40-30-10-13-18-63-7-9 Battle Mage using Moonveil +9 Lusats Glintstone+9. You get diminishing returns from Vigor after 40 don't you.

Not infinite, but very very long. She can hit him from pretty well anywhere.

I attack his left leg and try to go for his hands phase 2. I did it like this:

Frost or bleed is good because you can attack any part of him for the procs
