Ancient Dragon Lightning incantations all trash ?
I have a hybrid faith character with 60 faith and I was testing around with some incantations and is it me or is 90% of the lightning stuff just trash in comparison to pyro etc. ?

on a enemy that has both the same fire and lightning weakness I deel like 400+ more damage with a normal blackfireball than I deal with the strongest and longest loading dragon lightning incantations....

It feels like besides lightling spear nothing is worth on lightning attacks, Lansseax's Glaive, Fortissax's Lightning Spear, Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike and Ancient Dragons' Lightning Spear all look very cool but underperform against the most easiest pyro spells and even against lightning spear.....
Takes like twice the time to cast and deals like half of the damage.

Am I missing something about those or are they just bad in this game for some reason.

and yes I am using the right seals to cast them, all max upgraded etc.

Dragon Cult Incantations are decent. But there is alot of them that are mediocre also. That either cost to much FP for the damage they do. Or by having a long animation to cast and then dealing sub-par damage.

Some great ones are for example Ancient dragons lightning strike. That can do insane damage on very huge targets and bosses. But it's also kind of situational, it can also be bad on smaller mobs that move quickly.

Other than that the basic ♥♥♥♥♥ Lightning spear is very nice. Low FP and long range and you can charge it up abit. Very good at sniping targets from afar. Honed bolt is also decent for this.

I also prefer the normal Ancient dragon lightning spear since the Fortissax one while looking cool has too long animation to cast it. Many times casuing you to take damage. And even if you get it off it does not really do all that great damage.

Frenzy flame seal is also a somewhat decent way to go since it also scales with everything but arcane

Ancients Dragon Lightning Strike is the single most broken boss melter incantation on a dedicated build.

Make sure to equip a seal with high incant scaling for casting and a (unupgraded) Gravek Stone Seal, to profit from it's passive bonus to lightnint incants. Best would be one GSS that is max upgraded and one that is unupgraded.
Talismans: Flock's Canvas, Ritual Sword, Lightning Scorpion Charm, Godfrey Icon, for ridiculous amounts of damage per charged cast.

If you push your faith up to 80 you can use the Erdtree seal for even more incant scaling.
I've seen this man over here kill bosses in barely a minute with a lighting build.
It certainly gets the job done. That being said, my build isn't as optimized as it could be. I should probably implement the Jellyfish Shield for that extra x1.2 damage multiplier. Adding another GSS would be the less busy variant though, as I'd not have to constantly rebuff and the added bonus is close to being the same (x1.15).

Do you have the same issue I have with the Jellyfish shield, consisting of it looking so damn stupid that you can't bear the thought of running around with it?

Edit: looks like someone's chasing me around to give me free points, thanks man, appreciate it.

That, and it's really heavy. My build almost only allocated points into faith, vigor and mind, and there's little space for anything else if I want to partake in Elden Bling.

That's the best reason to not be fully optimized tbh.

I agree. And yeah, looks like you have a secret admirer. Then again, they're only able to express themselves under the guise of handing out jesters. At the end of the day, it's free steam monopoly money, which I usually use to hand out wholesome awards. Take it as a compliment :er_heart:
