I don't feel the game...
Hi. I bought Elden Ring yesterday and I don't feel it. In my gaming history i have never played and souls game. I have played elden ring 1 hour on my steam account and 10 hours in my friends house. I was making a build from youtube (dex and vital). I tried 18 times and i didn't managed to defeat Beastman Of Farum Azula... I did not even took him 75% of health... I was level 15 that time. I was trying to remember when he attacks and how he attacks. My friend killed that boss without dying and using estus (he played ds 1, 2 ,3 and bloodborne). The thing that also made me angry is that there was no reward. In games i played after bossfight I knew that "damn it was worth it", but after my friend killed that boss i wasnt happy. He said that it was one of the easiest bosses in this game, ha also said im terrible. He tried to teach me how to play, he was making easiest build to play, gave me tons of tips, than he let me deafeat Erdtree Burial Watchdog, I managed to defeat it after 6th time. I have elden ring on steam and i don't want to play this... i don't feel fun and i'm not sure if to return it or not. Maybe the game will be better after i became better? Maybe the game isn't for me?

I think you've been backseated off a cliff. Just my two cents with 6k hours in Fromsoftware games: Go your own way with it. The reward isn't taking people's advice and fulfilling THEIR expectations of you. It's about discovering why people play this game; I honestly think going in blind is the only real way to experience each game, and the more you expose yourself to it indirectly, the more your experience is corrupted.
Blind is the only way to play

Just explore.

My friend didn't get into the game until a couple months after he bought it.
Elden Ring is now his favorite game.

I give this advice for monster hunter as well, try other weapons, it may open the game up to you.

1. play for yourself, ignore your friend
2. get into this yourself because you are interested in it and want to engage with it
3. don't look up stuff online and try to use that - play for yourself
4. if that doesn't interest you, don't play this game
5. note how the above applies to all games

Don't let your pal get to you either. Playing this game well has no correlation to character. You've got your strengths and he his.

give it more than 90 minutes, the game can start out rough even if you're experienced but it gets so much better. i'd hate for anyone to give up before the game really gets good. also your friend sounds like a typical souls elitist jerk, don't listen to him. can't expect a beginner to match someone who has played all the other games. stick with it!! it's worth it and you will feel the accomplishment and pride once you get over the initial learning curve.

This unfortunately references the most downvoted Reddit content to date, one from EA about the grind for Darth Vader in Battlefront 2. That is just a projection, as well; they might not experience that at all, and haven't yet. I certainly don't feel a sense of pride just for beating a video game...

Try STR and VIT instead. Easier to get used to, less punishing overall. DEX can be rewarding, but you have to be proficient to begin with to make the most use of it.

lol who cares about what Reddit downvotes, other than some sad pathetic terminally online reject? it's not a projection, it's a statement many, many players over many, many years have stated about defeating difficult video games, Souls games in particular.

sorry you get no pride out of a satisfactory result from practicing at your favorite hobby but your experience, especially where Souls games are concerned, is 1,00000% in the minority. you sound like you need to find another set of games to play.

From Miyazaki himself: “ I do feel apologetic toward anyone who feels there’s just too much to overcome in my games [...] I just want as many players as possible to experience the joy that comes from overcoming hardship."

BOOM, literally the reason From cranks up the difficulty in their games. Shut up.

To get upvotes on Reddit you have to be part of the collective hivemind, in other words a complete moron

Oookay. If you've followed the game industry for a time at all, you'd have heard about it one way or another. Nearly one million people saw and clicked downvote on that post, iirc; this has been a knowyourmeme moment.

I wasn't on Reddit or Twitter then, and am not now. I still know what the meme about "pride and accomplishment" is. Again, a knowyourmeme moment. Flex being blackpilled to someone who cares/not on a game forum, pls. I have nothing more to really add here.
