Wrong! He still spawns in the battlefield near Altus merchant hut.

No matter what you do he will be always be there......drops a nice stamina talisman so hey...give it a go.

Why would that not be possible?

You need to kill Edgar at some point to get the Grape for Hyetta's questline and this involves acquiring a mandatory +8 weapon, unlike Rogier's which can be left on the ground.

Since there was some confusion, you can do it at RL1 but not while also maintaining +0 weapons.

I use the save as a template for any setup I want in coop or PvP (mostly coop though, don't care much for ER's PvP now days, and even back when I did I mostly did naked or cosplay troll setups and nothing optimized for the sake of fun).

I have a RL1 character with +0 weapons. This character has every single item in the game, plenty of resources to craft consumables as needed plus stockpiled/bought stuff, hundreds of upgrade materials, all spells/ash of war, etc. and millions of souls.

If I want to coop at low, mid, or high level with a certain setup I don't need to do any farming and can swap my configuration at any time by swapping back in the main menu and then loading the game to try something else as necessary if I need to regress. If I want to do a goofy inefficient cosplay or something, or give my host some nice buffs/healing, or whatever be it low level or high level a single character without any further farming effort accomplishes it.

Since I already played my first run at RL1 +0 anyways, out of habit with these types of games its a "ought as well enjoy this convenient perk" kind of thing. I just can't do any Frenzy cosplay or, more importantly troll either my enemy or ally with Frenzy stone (the warmth frenzy version), and can't use a few things locked behind that route's path. At least, not at ultra low level. I can always revert to a higher save intended for level range of a +8 or higher weapon and do so, though so I have a save for that as well since the Frenzy AoE heal is quite good actually due to its stronger heal and enemy dmg deterrence.
