Should you go Haligtree first, or Fire Giant first?

Is there a strong reason to go one way or the other first?

its up to u, but it would be better to defeat fire giant first cuz haligtree require higher level

Haligtree is more difficult than the area that follows the Fire Giant, in my opinion. Depending on your level (and skill) you might want to progress through what comes after defeating Fire Giant first.

just make sure to get all unique/important items in the capital first before the fire giant

Malenia is the hardest in the game so i recommend fire giant then godskin, as they give you the stones you need to max weapons

If we go by the runes and upgrade materials in each area, Haligtree should be the last place you clear.

Not really, the change only happens when you kill the last boss of Farum Azula, the area after Fire Giant.
