Malekith the whatever...

So, I finally got there (running past the draconic rider of hell), but it seems an impossible fight.
Any tips? I had to respec to be able to wield the Darkmoon greatsword (+10), but I'm still basically a frail mage.

Most of his attacks you can roll through. The sphere one is the hardest to dodge but depending on where it lands it's best to roll towards him. He is very fast so you have to always be watching. The slashes he does with his sword can be dodge by the side and the death slices he hurls at you can be rolled through. He's not that bad once you know what he does and how to counter it. Most of the beast incantations he uses can be jumped over.

If you're a mage, then just backpedal and kill him with cometshard.

I've seen most people just use a poison/scarlot rot breath and then take him from there with bleed, if you want to be lazy.

Either get used to dodging on reaction, or bite the bullet and have spirit ashes tank him while you magic spam.

It's one of the more difficult fights in the game, definitely. Maliketh is very much a glass cannon though, despite all of his crazy melee and ranged attacks he has very low health for a boss.

Stalling is a very useful tool for this boss. If you get hit with his DoT effect, hide behind a pillar and wait it out. Beastial Vitality is a good cheap spell to use with that tactic.

They're a little difficult to get positioned correctly, but ranged summons like Latenna or the redmane knight are very good since Maliketh's health is so low.

Above all, practice. That's the best advice I can give. Learn the timing of his attacks, and when to dodge.

There is an item in that area that allows you to stun him. It takes a degree of timing and works like a parry. However, I find it more forgiving than a parry - just my experience, haven't looked at data. You can then nuke him while he's stunned as a mage.

I put this on my belt that you can access by pressing "Y". That way, you don't have to scroll and move away from your health given how much damage he does if you make a mistake. Once I learned how to use that item, I just melted him every run.

Outside of that, Malekith is a momentum-based fight. If you start to lose control, you'll likely get get smote. Keep calm, focus on making good dodges, and don't get greedy. He doesn't have much health; a few good comets and he'll be down in no time.

Finally...
I decided to unequip any extras, got the talisman that increase your load, and equipped the bulkier armor possible without fat rolling. That made possible to tank at least some hits, enough to play hide and seek with the pillars and summoning the mimic tear to distract him.
In any case, it's gone now... Along with the capital, it seems.

Compared with maliketh, the other bosses were complete pushovers... Elden Beast is no more... Now to the ending, I guess.
