Cheat Engine Troll or someone exploiting a glitch.
I've met this guy twice, and they perform some glitch using involving the flail's weapon art then quickly switch to the serpent spear, suddenly it'd act like the Ghiza's Wheel weapon art but with a huge range, hitting rapidly and suddenly I'm dead. So if you see a invader switching between those two weapons, ALT+F4 asap, then report/block the guy. Especially if his name is Elden Lord.

These two groups are known to use that
so you may want to block most of their members.

For some time now. It has been patched already until players found a way to perform it regardless. DLC release should bring a balance patch which might adress it once more.

Yeah unfortunately this is very old problem.
And technically it is not even cheat. Just abusing known glitch in the game.

Like infamous estus cancel or machine gun bow glitches in Dark Souls III.

Super annoying. Makes me wish we had the methods of kicking those kinds of players out, like Blue Sentinals of DS3.

Yep this is what fromsoft should implement a serverside lockout function, this would create a resource effective non toxic environment without harm anyone and without the problem steams blocklist can create.
At least all cheaters would end in a own realm for them this way.

Like In DSR, DS2, and ds3. Cheaters got placed in their own server. I guess they got rid of that for Elden ring because they added Eac?
no, softbanned players are placed in one for six months, of course if the... 'anti cheat' catches them, but I'm not confident in this Eac since I find those kinds of players alot still.

After some research a while ago this never happend, that cheaters got placed in their own server in the darksouls titles, it was a Story McDonald had spread to create fear to play the games.
If they would add a simple serverside function to be able to tell the server you do not want to play/get invaded with specific Accounts it would with time only match the cheaters to each other because after one encounter the cheaters get blocked by the honest Players.

This would be a easy thing and it would clean out the matchmaking without harm anyone or use a ban penalty System.

shift+tab -> game info -> recent players -> block

Sadly this is not like EAC with elden ring works. EAC works only local at your machine, the hackers found some ways to workaround EAC by sandboxing it or manipulate datapackets after EAC checks.
Eac was never made to identify engine glitches or check the communication with other clients.

The problem with this is, if the blocklist became too long you get connection timeouts resulting in stutters during online play/invasions and it can cause this problem that the game close (like a crash) without creating a winsows event log.

that just means the game prevented connecting with one of those people, which is a win win situation

Apparently the game combs through your entire steam block list whenever you connect to someone in Elden Ring. If your block list contains too many entries, you'll get connection errors/crashes whenever you try to connect as a result.

I can confirm, with a few hundred players blocked over a couple years, now and the the game crashes when someone tries to connect to me. It's rare. A price I'm willing to pay to keep sh*tters out though 😂😭
Same. I had over a thousand blocked thanks to cridus' block extension for Ds3, which resulted in me getting connection errors before or during sessions, including crashes. Luckily steam lets you unblock everyone at once. I simply added the most recent offenders that are shared often enough in this forum so I don't need to worry about meeting any of them in Elden Ring and Blue Sentinel takes care of Ds3.

How is it a win win if you encounter the problem to no longer be able to play online by your own blocklist?
