And the souls series is waaaaay more replayable than elden ring. There's just too much stuff spread way too thin over the ridiculously huge and empty map.
Also when it comes to replayability I tend to almost never wanna create new characters for ER simply because the feeling of creating something new is so overwhelming. I know I'm gonna be on horseback for so many hours throughout the zones depending on what items/build/SL I'm going for.
One could argue it should feel the same in the DS series but somehow because it's a bit more linear and less pleb bosses it feels so different in a good way.
Map is not at all empty tho. You have one of those tired bs opinions and immediately gave another commenter a clown.
The dungeons and tombs you find are kinda neat, but suffer from the same copy/paste boss problem as open world bosses.
The whole game seems padded out. I can't tell you how many times I fought the dungeon variant of a boss before the original.
Land mark main areas are where the game shines the most. Enemies are intentionally placed in ways to ambush and challenge the player. Multiple paths to take that can circle around and make shortcuts. Traps and puzzles that can lead to great rewards. Overall, neatly designed areas intended to keep you on your toes.
The underground areas of elden ring is how I wished the entirety of the overworld was designed. Sure, it's still open, but all the action is neatly packed together. There isn't one place down there where I feel like I can just mindless blitz through. It essentially mocks the overworld design.
And elden ring is the equivalent of the corn fields of iowa.
Probably won't happen, but one can dream.
Hey I actually quite enjoy corn. It's delicious.
Hallways on the other hand not tasty at all.
the solution to you not liking open world is not buying an open world game in the first place not trying to change it into a linear game lmao
If you bothered to read what I posted before, you would of seen how I praised how the underground sections were designed. The overworld is a snoozefest that only serves to artificially create scale, and bloat your harddrive.
I mean, that's your personal opinion. For me, I absolutely love the freedom to explore and come back later, especially if I find an area particularly difficult for me to get through. I love the exploring, finding items, etc. My only main gripe, and I think it's a common one, is so many of the "dungeons" seem very similar. I am hyped for the expansion set. I can't wait.
unlucky for you then
I am the exact opposite and had more fun with elden ring's open world than any other open world game
