But as a biased Str player, I consider the Ruins Greatsword as a top weapon.

I think it really depends on your build tbh.

There is no "strongest weapon omg omg", but depending of your build you have a few that are top tier.

Want something to make exploration easy ? Blasphemous Blade. Strong sword, strong AoW, passive heal for each enemy dead.

Want to break bosses quickly ? Darkmoon Greatsword, AoW does frost damage and a lot of poise damage.

Want something strong but you still want to change the AoW to be more versatile ? The Nagakiba is a good option.

Want to bleed stuff to death ? Mohgwyn Sacred Spear.

Full strength big damage big bonk ? Ruins greatsword or Giant Crusher

You have a lot of stuff that are pretty good everywhere in the game, don't hesitate to try what you find

The only weapon which is the best against a certain type of enemy is Serpent Hunter against Rykard.

I find most colossal greatswords to be pretty good for their poise break, but it all really depends on the build of your character and what stats you are prioritizing. That's what makes this game so great.

For me personally I find the buckler more effective then any weapon. anything that I can parry (by that I mean anything parryable) I can beat easily. I originally thought 2 parry bosses for an attack was stupid until I learned how easy getting 2 in a row was.
For pvp (something I do not do because there is no rewards) I hear dual wielding Cross-Naginata is by far the strongest because of its crouch poke attack that is near instant, applies bleed and can be spammed.
