Dodge While Sprinting on PC
Why is this not a thing... wtf? I have sprint bound to a keyboard and mouse key so I don't understand why tapping the mouse key whilst holding the keyboard key should cause issues..

its supposed to be bound to the same button, so you tap to dodge, hold to sprint, and if you want to dodge while sprinting, you totally can, you just need to release the button and then press it down again asap.

if youve bound them to different things, holding your keyboard input for dodge/sprint interferes with accepting your mouse input because the game is expecting them to be the same button. the games kbm controls are not perfect nor is the PC port in general, but this really isnt a huge issue to get used to. IME its preferable to leave dodge/sprint as the space bar and as the main, possibly only button your thumb is responsible for, assuming your hand is in standard WASD position.

also, its a niche problem, but in high skill level pvp, giving KBM players the ability to separate these buttons and thus dodge on button press instead of button release is a significant advantage.

ultimately it would be great if we could see a future fromsoft souls title with a better control scheme that separates sprint and dodge and allows for dodge on button press.

I hate when games do this also this cause some input lag, you could download a program for this though that way you have dedicated keys for both sprint and dodge

That's just the console-based design they always go for, because: 1) it works for them; 2) pvp is easier to balance when several actions are tied to a single button.
You either accept that and move on, or use external software to change it to whatever you want.

Funfact: Even if you assign dodge and sprint to different bindings (I did) you cannot dodge while sprinting. Pressing dodge once only cancels sprint. You have to press it after sprint is cancelled to actually dodge.

No clue why they did it this way this time around, it was not this way in previous games.

I understand it's a controller dedicated game.. but seriously.. why would they cheap on PC keybindings.. The camera and targeting/focus target system for PC is so bad too.

Never had any issues with camera and targeting via mouse, not even in 'Dark Souls'. Then again, I grew up with third person shooters which used systems of similar kind... For the record, I absolutely hate (and incredibly bad at) using gamepads to navigate in 3D space.

The only thing that always bothered me in DeS and DS were kicks, which I could never nail down. Fortunately, in ER kick's just a weapon art, which you don't really need.

Fromsoft never cared for pc port that why, remember ds3 that game has no kb/m prompt support

Dude, make a new thread, don't necro one that's months old. Like people in the thread have said, it doesn't really work, the game just isn't designed that way.
