Why no dedicated button for dash?
Can't seem to re-configure dash to another key. I like to use shift for sprinting in games. But for some reason this game groups a bunch of actions together on one key. I've never seen anything like this before.

Souls and Souls-likes have always had the sprint mapped to the same button as the roll, just something you have to get used to I guess. It was nice enough of Miyazaki to give us separate keys for the map and crouch

because they are not actually the geniuses everyone gogging on their souls like games seem to think they are.

These games are first and foremost console games and console controllers have a limited number of buttons.

Pretty much this. When you only have 14 buttons - you have to get creative.

It's not rocket science to get used to any button configurations. Every game has their own mapping. It doesn't require a genius to work it out.

To be fair: I'm still malding that they put "map" on "G" and then ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HARDCODED IT. Holy moly, they truly don't play on PC.

it's not a pc issue, it's a kb/m issue

I cannot possibly comment on that m8 as I ve always used a controller for FS games, so I do the same now on PC....
But I find it absurd not giving PC users the same level of care they give to console players. It s an unfortunate constant in the Soulsborne series.

You can rebind it if you are using a controller (using steam controller), since the bindings for dodge and sprint are actually coded separately.

No clue about M+KB though.

I m used to it just as I got used to Elden Ring reversing the interaction button....I do sometimes end up jumping instead of interacting but it s not a game-breaking issue for me. Tho I can understand why it may seem just weird to some...

I still don't like the fact that I have to release/tap button to roll. Would have preferred roll on press.

Yes, and I would ve liked Anor Londo to be more than just a building with a useless boss in it, and I would ve liked it to be longer that that, but that s what the game is and so I rather focus on the things I do like. That way I enjoy it more...
Everybody would ve liked something to be different but until we get AI generated custom made games this is what the soup s gonna be like.
Besides, if you play it long enough you ll get used to it to the point that you won t even have to think about it.

a little under 500 hours throughout the whole franchise and I STILL make that mistake and mess up dodges because of it haha

Mapping 2 functions to 1 key isn't as bad as you think. In any case, it just means you need more precise inputs and input control which means there is potential growth for you as a player. Final verdict: skill issue. (REAL)
