Its like how boss weapons and elemental infused weapons cant be buffed in ds3.
Nothing about it was lazy or ignorant, not of the person answering you and not of the developers designing the weapon.
You initially asked if Ashes of War can be changed on somber weapons whose AoW is fixed. Two people on here tell you no, it indeed is not possible. You not enjoying or agreeing with it doesn't make it a ♥♥♥♥ answer.
In Elden Ring, to apply Ashes of War to Somber Weapons, you'll need the special Whetstone called the "Ashen Whetstone." This unique item allows you to imbue your Somber Weapons with the power of Ashes of War, enhancing their abilities and altering their effects. You can typically obtain the Ashen Whetstone through specific quests, defeating certain bosses, or as rare drops from challenging enemies in the game world.
