Dark Souls 3 if you want a strictly linear experience (with some optional paths sprinkled in).

Elden Ring if you love the feeling of "There, this is the world you're in. Do whatever the goof you want, go nuts."

Hard to say really, both have their ups and downs.

DS3 for example is a lot easier to replay.

ER on the other hand has far more variety with builds and combat styles.
Both are great for PvE. Dark Souls PvP is much better.

If you’re gonna go with DS3, I’d suggest playing DS1 first. Then hop into 3.

It’s weird how they never made a second one but hey, Miyazaki is a mysterious man

The second one emanates so much raw power that the unenlightened masses are simply uncapable of comprehending its existence.

If you wanna broken boring pvp ( but better invasions) and overall better bosses and much better movesets on weapons, pick ds3. If you wanna openworld and much more customizable weapons but lower PVE fighting quality overall, pick this. Essentially Fallout New Vegas vs Fallout 4. Ds3 is a masterpiece in itself, ER is a huge sandbox with many fun tools to play with.

I was told Dark Souls 2 is the evil twin brother of Devil May Cry 2.

Is its power level over 9000?

I prefered Dark Souls 3 honestly.

The linear design is less frustrating and confusing at times, and the challenge is more reasonable for the most part, where elden ring cheapshots you a lot of the time it feels like.

You can play DS3 as a demo or prologue for Elden Ring.

Too bad they only made a Dark Souls 2, and never a first or third game.
