Bloodhound Fang is just too damn good

Almost finished liturnia and of lakes and the Caelid area and most of the bosses are a breeze with this weapon. It rips most enemies to shreds especially with the weapon skill. Using a dex favoured quality build I haven't really found anything better than the fang so far but was hoping there would be something else better than it because it would be boring just using the same weapon throughout the whole game.

I tried the twinblade which is fun and hit fast but the damage is lacking and the lack of bleed is another downside. Others have said the cross naginata was good but the shabby moveset is a killer for me. What would be some good recommendations since I'm about at the midway point point around 50 hrs into the game so far?

The Nightrider flail is a good secondary with that.
Mostly because it's a strike weapon, and there's a few stone enemies around in the game. It swings a bit faster too and brings the poise down quick enough.

And I had to use a dagger once or twice to outspeed a particularly annoying enemy.
Altough the claws and caestus also seem interesting on that end...

No idea about pierce weapons tho. Apart from one specific bosskiller, I haven't really used any spears, or found them particularly useful against enemies.

There aren't that many if any dex weapons that are better tbh

If you want just some weapons in general that are better I'd recommend Blasphemous blade or Ruins Greatsword

Morgott's cursed sword if you're into bleed curved great swords. Otherwise try dual normal curved swords, specifically bandit's curved. Later on you can set them to have bleed with black whetblade. Alternatively you can use blood aow to set them to blood affinity early on.

If you're looking for pure dex weps, bolt of gransax, guardian sword spear, any of the claws and urumi come to mind

I went from BloodHound Fang to Guardian Swordspear to Powerstancing Bandits Curved Swords in my 1st playthrough. Currently still powerstancing the curved swords with Cragsblade on each coz Stance damage is OP. However theres alot of Ashes you can put on the Swordspear that you cant have on swords. All are alot of fun.

Serpent Hunter is a strength weapon though.

It needs a good amount of practice but the things you can pull off with Bloodhounds Fang when you know bosses movesets well, is absolutely S-Tier

Now this changes dramatically if you are a less skilled player.
Then lots of weapons become better than BloodHounds Fang.

With Blasphemous Blade being the best weapon in the game considering average skill of players

Odd I would of said it was the other way round. Bloodhound Fang is great coz the extra I-Frames allows the average player to spam ashes and not worry about bosses.

If you spam ashes without knowing bosses you will get hit a lot .....
if you know when you can use the ash of war you will destroy bosses since the combination of poise damage and damage is brutal.

when you just spam Blasphemous Ash of war you will have much more success as bad player than with spamming Bloodhound Fang.
However if you are really good you can do more DPS with BHF than with Blasphemous

Basically all competent players who do 0 hit-runs however share my opinion

Serpent Hunter is the best combination of pure Damage,Poise Damage , Range and Speed
it allows you to script 95% of bossfights.

BHF and Serpent Hunter are the best melee weapons for players who have lots of experience and lots of mechanical skill

Play quality Longsword no infusions keeping Square Off skill and make it work using heavy armor. No dual wielding. No swapping to different weapons against harder enemies. There's your challenge and fun. Medium shield permitted, but only with Parry or No Skill skills. No using any ranged, including Bows/Crossbows and all Magic. No Firebombs or any other ranged item permitted. All your damage done must be 100%, completely and only from your Longsword. No Spirit Ashes, no Summoning cooperators or players.

I like Keen Pike.

Maybe I'm just weird, but the longest pokey-stick in the game works for me.
I changed the ash of war to that piercing thrust or whatever short spears have. It poise-breaks like a truck to the face.
It certainly isn't the flashiest of move-sets, but just jabbing enemies to death with a super long pointy stick amuses me. Most enemies can't even get close.


... Well, except I recently decided to stick Lightning Ram on a Keen Parrying Dagger just so I could do sonic memes.
