Should we restart? Thinking killing Greyoll and leveling up so much so early on was a mistake...
I'm playing with my girlfriend using the seamless co-op mode, and we're having a lot of fun. We're only about 4 or 5 hours into the game but using some tips I saw in a YouTube video we killed that sleeping dragon Greyoll, got the 96.000 runes and leveled up a LOT.

Now, I am thinking this was a mistake. Yes we're high level but we still have the basic starting gear and are still finding our way in the starting area. Leveling up has become very expensive for us now, it's hard to save up so many runes in this area, and dying has become a bit of a torture. Saving up 8000+ runes takes quite some effort without dying - and then dying again before picking up the lost runes :/

It's so annoying that we can't load an older save from before killing this dragon. I'm thinking maybe we should just restart the game, we're not so far in anyway, and just level up the normal way - get some runes, spend it on a level, get more runes, and so on.

Any advice?

Honestly just play through it organically at first and cherish that first experience. Stuff like this is better for min-maxing additional playthroughs.

We did level vigor a bit, but definitely not enough, nope. Well, this is how we learn I guess 😅
In case you don't like the direction of leveling, you can still respec at Rennala if you've already beaten her. Unfortunately you can't level down with rebirth.

What I did to put off leveling a bit was use all the excess runes on smithing stones, arrows and other items. Just do a merchant run when you have "too many" runes.

That is also 100% my feeling tbh. I regret seeing the "getting OP within one hour" videos and I think starting over is probably best. We also better know which directions we want to take our characters (girlfriend wants to be 100% ranged magic, I want a mix of range and melee), so starting with new classes is not to worst thing ever.

Off topic, but I'm really hoping that dragon, alive, is the entrypoint to the DLC.

Just makes me sad to kill it.

I'd agree.

The 3rd Church warp route (which Greyoll is a part of) was deliberately added and curated by the devs so that experienced players could hit level 50 and be at Altus within minutes of starting a new run :praisesun:.

Without a specific build and route in mind though it's usefulness is limited.
