You can break Malenia (or a player in PVP) out of Waterfowl Dance by throwing an ice pot at them.
You can throw ruin fragments. It's not good as anything but enemy bait in PVE and baiting dodges in PVP, and even then there's better, but it is still pretty funny to just throw rocks at stuff.
Backstabs do less damage than frontstabs, and can be performed for some reason after crumpling an enemy if you're behind them, so get in front of them.
You can quickly get to the last grace you visited by opening the map and pressing Y/Triangle once.
Killing ballistas (whether they are manned or not) counts as a "kill" for the purposes of talismans like the ancestral spirit horn and black knife charms.
The mimic veil does actually fool some enemies contrary to its description.
In Northeastern Liurnia where the chaos tower is, you can use hidden body to approach the tower without taking frenzy buildup.
The purifying tear for Mohgs fight can be found at the second church of Marika independent of Yura's questline. You just have to show up at night to get the invader to appear.
Margit's Shackle has a few utility uses outside of his fight. Namely it can be used to reveal hidden walls within a very large radius. It also works on another boss fight Morgott.
Some boss fights will straight up break if you pass through a fog wall then halt immediately and go no further.
There is an apelike creature roaming around the woods in East Limgrave, however it actively tries to avoid the player and is quite difficult to catch (It can hide in the bushes and behind scenery). It does however drop a rather rare and valuable item.
Scarabs emit a chime when you face in their general direction, and from a fair distance away, too. This makes it much easier to find them than having to rely on sight alone.
Every ruin (as marked on your map) has a set of stairs leading to a chamber below the ruin with a treasure chest. If the chest instead contains a transporter trap, then there should be a second set of stairs leading to a different chest with actual treasure.
Some enemies, like the stone-skinned miners, will bounce your attacks off of them. To avoid this, use heavy attacks or two-hand your weapon. Some miners carry a pack of explosive stones that will ignite if you deal fire damage to them.
Fire damage will instantly stun the giant miranda sprouts, which can immediately stop them from spreading poison around themselves. They're also generally weak to fire anyway.
Fire damage is reduced by 10% while raining or while the target is standing in shallow water. Conversely, lightning damage is increased by 10% under the same conditions.
Some status effects can scale with Arcane. Bleed, poison, sleep, and madness, specifically. But only if the weapon or spell focus you're using has arcane scaling. Frostbite, scarlet rot, and death blight never scale with Arcane.
Putting a Blood or Poison affinity on a weapon with innate bleed or poison buildup will override the innate buildup of the same type rather than adding to it. For this reason, it is recommended to either use the opposite type of affinity, e.g. Poison affinity on a weapon with innate bleed, or an Occult affinity. Since Occult gives a higher Arcane scaling, it will give you higher buildup with high Arcane than a Bleed or Poison affinity will.
Doing certain quests will add effects to your characters eyes. You can remove these effects by editing your character's appearance at Rennala or the mirror in Fia's room at the Roundtable.
The Sentry's Torch will reveal invisible enemies, while the Beast-Repellent Torch will prevent beast-type enemies from attacking you. This includes the giant T-rex dogs as well as basilisks. Just watch out for the ones with glowing red eyes, as they won't be affected.
You can craft pots and then put them in storage to free up the cracked pots.
Hopefully at least one of those qualifies as "obscure".
But if you manage to chase it down (and good luck, it moves fast, you need to corner it somewhere) and smack it once it vanishes and gives you a pretty good item. I won't spoil the item.
Always leave enough stamina to roll a couple of times.
One exception to this: venomous fang, when set to poison, will apply deadly poison levels of damage on regular poison's duration
