Items found found otherwise in the overworld can also be picked up by everyone.
Randomly dropped items, such as armor, weapons, crafting materials, etc. is not shared and shown only for the player that it drops for.
seamless co-op makes all players host of fingers. think like that.
except seamless coop disconnects all mod users from the matchmaking servers
Also, people calling you out for it was in regard to people in this forum, like the post above yours:
So multiplayer in the game is already pretty good without mods?
and this is just in the base game with no mods?
Multiplayer works like this:
You as a host can summon in cooperators. As soon as you do that, you open your world up for players called invaders, whose goal is to defeat you.
Invaders leave your world when they die or when they defeat you, cooperators leave your world as soon as your area boss is dead (defeating said boss is a cooperators main goal mostly).
Upon returning to their world, the cooperator will not have defeated the same boss in their world, meaning progress is not shared in any way, neither are drops from guaranteed dropped items or items which can be found lying around in the overworld.
Vanilla game will let you have at most 2 helpers within a limited scope (beat an area boss) AND expose you to invaders (basically unwanted PvP).
Once the helper's duty is done, they get disconnected and whatever they did for you won't persist in their game world.
Unwanted, again, is just your opinion. Kindly let people make up their mind themselves if they want to play the game vanilla first or mod it straight away.
Edit: typos
All what i did was just telling OP how the vanilla game works. OP wants 4-player co-op; Vanilla ER doesn't allow that.
Please don't blame me in advance for whatever decision OP will do.
