Why do NG+ players summon help a lot?
I often use the effigy to send out my summon sign, I think its fun, I like to help people struggling and get me those delicious rune arcs. But I've started noticing something, I very frequently get summoned by people who are very clearly in NG+, with end game gear and OP weapons. It just makes me think, why in the hell do they need help? Its often not even bosses that are all that tough too. I guess I'm just curious, what's the motivation to summon help when its clearly not needed?

Why would you want to meet new people when you already have a family?

Because jolly cooperation, my friend. No matter the level or count of ng, jolly cooperation is always fun.

I summon all the time in New Game and New Game Plus.

Reasons: it is fun to have company when fighting bosses,
and it gives phantoms opportunity to practice against boss and earn Rune Arcs and runes.

I love when people summon me and it seems to me most players
I summon are glad and grateful to be summoned.

If I summon you and you don't like it for whatever reason return to your world.

It was not meant to be serious or rude. Just pointing out you have option to return.

I typically summon less experienced players but I can't know
for certain who is player I summon and what motivation they have,
so Finger Severer is your friend :-)

I suppose I never considered that I'm getting helped more than the summoner in that they're providing me essentially with a free run arc.

If you summon me, no matter how bad/good you are... I am your flak vest and your erratic sword and stalwart companion.

If I fall off a cliff, it's because I have bad depth perception, not a statement of your skill. I just fall a lot.

Yes, I've noticed as well. I think some people just summon for the hell of it. Others summon because they've bitten off more than they can chew. The only time I'm a bit annoyed is when I get summoned by somebody in NG+7 with my toon at RL 138 and I have no indicator to know that I can't just "casually help" the guy. This is more of an indictment of the game than the player though. Sometimes the host will add (NG+7) to their name to let the cooperators know which I always appreciate.

Careful not to attract the elitists using the S word.

Welcome back, SiriuS.
I am aware of you not being a fan of cheap stove top alcohol, but maybe you'll accept this mug my good friend Siegward brewed the other day as a welcome back gift.

I agree with this theme. I send my help signs often, very often I keep them active by default and only dissable them when im doing something I don't want to be distracted from. Sometimes I barely do anything because the host and/or his other partner are so high that they grind through the enemies and the boss easily, I have to struggle to land some hints of my own that don't apport much. I en wondering the same, why am I summoned just to watch you?
