does this have level scaling?
Like, do enemies scale with player level? is it possible to simply outlevel characters to a point where you just one shot them? Both bosses and regular enemies considered.

no scaling, you can easily overlevel mobs and bosses

No, but NG+ enemies do scale up enough that your OP char at NG become once again a normal char at the start that may need 2 to 4 hits to kill a normal enemy (1 if you really got OP at NG).

No, the mountaintop enemies are just really buffed up by default.

Unfortunately not. Even in New Game+ the enemies do not scale with the player at all, and only get a minor statistical upgrade. This minor upgrade is absolutely nothing, the enemies for the first 80% of the game are still entirely non-threatening dying in 1 or 2 hits while taking a million to kill you.

Yes, and it's incredibly easy to do even on accident due to the weird layout the world has. Immediately from the start of the game you're pushed towards Stormveil and Liurnia, but the Weeping Peninsula (which doesn't have anything at all pointing you towards it) is easier than Liurnia. If you go through the game following its directions you'll never be led to the Weeping Peninsula (and several other areas), and by the time you discover them you can't really explore them normally since you'll just oneshot everything, bosses included.

Maybe if you speedrun through NG then speedrun through NG+ then speedrun through NG++ then speedrun through NG+++ then speedrun through NG++++ then speedrun through NG+++++ then speedrun through NG++++++ and enter NG+++++++ the enemies at the start would become normal.

Enemies at the start of NG are buffed by x5, late game enemies are buffed by x1.4, so if the weapon chosen is not strong it will take some hits to kill at NG+ even with maxed weapon.

Oh, wow, a 5x stat increase! That surely makes up for my 20x stat increase! My 125AR longsword hitting for 61 and 4-shotting the soldiers of Godrick is definitely 20% as powerful as my 552AR longsword+24 hitting for 444 and 2-shotting the soldiers of Godrick+1!

Say, I wonder what would happen if I used a different weapon other than the one you start the game with? Could my 805AR Bloodhound's Fang+10 possibly be hitting for 697 and oneshotting them? 🤔

I dont remember now but I think a Golden Halberd on 980 AR was "almost" 1shotting or 1shotting but weaker maxed weapons were not (yes, despite I use the Golden Halberd only I have a pletora of maxed weapons or almost maxed weapons, for the sake of testing or playing different moveset/style).

I hit the same soldiers of Godrick on my SL138 character in NG+ and my SL1 character in NG to get those numbers I gave you. Those soldiers take about 4 hits with the smaller weapons and about 2 hits with the bigger ones in NG, halved in NG+ to only 1 or maybe 2 hits. NG+ has over 100 levels on NG, plus max rank weapons instead of unlevelled, plus a much wider variety of much stronger weapons, plus four talisman slots, plus all those extra talismans you find later on, plus you're also just better at the game so even if their stats were the same they'd still inherently be easier since the moveset and enemy placement of early game locations is so much easier compared to later game locations.

In order for NG+ to feel as difficult as NG it would need to be something like a 15x multiplier instead of 5x, and new enemy placements like DS2 had.

I dont know exactly where I read the x5 and 1.4 scaling (it scales per area, earlier areas are scalled more than later arreas) but some weapons took me quite 2 or 3 hits to kill normal soldiers.
Golden Halberd was still very OP (tho as I dont remember now I wont say it was 1shotingh everything)

EF_neo you are wrong in this regard.....

NG+ is nowhere close to making the game normal again
when you start NG+ you basically 1 shot everything.

You do 15-20 times the Damage and Monsters are ~4 times as strong >-<

when you start out you do 77 damage per r2 hit
in NG+ you do 900+ r2

I am trying to guess what crap weapons I tested first time I went to NG+ ...
EF_Neo1st Nov 13, 2023 @ 3:50am
Btw, just tested these 2 on NG+ (well, char is STR 80 DEX 24 FAITH 24):
Giants Redbraid +4 2 handed dealt 200~250 damage/hit on first area soldiers
Winged Scythe+9 2 handed dealt 480~600 damage/hit on first area soldiers (some 300 through shield)
Marikas Hammer +9 2 handed dealt from 550 to 650 to soldiers there (needed 2 hits on some)
Golden Halberd +10 2 handed dealt 778 dmg, 1shotting soldiers there.

I knew some weapons would require more than 1 or 2 hits to kill these earlly enemies.

And yes I tested all without talismans and without any buffs of any kind, just 2 handing the weapon.
The weakest one (Giants Red Braid) needed 3 hits against a normal soldier once, 2 hiits to kill the bats and most normal soldiers.
