rock sling is actually much better and deals way more damage in that fight, no idea why you had issues with it

In my thousands of hours i never used a mist spell for real, just for the sake of experimenting so not a real fan (they are all pretty meh).
Also it destroys the FPS of some people!
Can be charged to create even larger area of effect.
Wrecks Crystalians. Can kill them without aggroing them.
But for most bosses unless you have low Intelligence
or low Focus Points there are better, faster options.
I had no luck with rock sling against radahn. Use mist without lock on. Trick is to keep them in it. It melts anything in seconds. But you have to be using it properly to work. The problem with rock sling is you have to keep casting it. Mist can create a field you can then lure them. Their healthbar drops like nothing else.
Conclusion: Night maidens mist is the most powerful spell.
