Hot take: Mohg is HARDER than Malenia.

I'm talking without summons, spirits or players. Just you vs the boss. His second phase is almost impossible to dodge when he pukes that ♥♥♥♥ all over the place. I'll try to see if the shackle helps but I'm not sure.

Malenia was harder for me. Mohg i was actually able to figure out mostly entirely:

But my fight with Malenia was kinda of a ♥♥♥♥ show, at least the second phase. Granted, i didn't feel like trying a trillion times to master it then as i was severely burned out by the game being so big but still.

I have the blasphemous blade upgraded to +10, flame grant me strength, golden vow incantations to buff me before the fight as well as the fire scorpion talisman and the flask that mostly nullifies his ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ undodgable attack before he starts his second phase.

I still get destroyed. I tried doing it by powerstancing this weapon you have, upgraded one to +13 and the other to +11 but I have no more smithing stones, got pretty close to killing him with those once but died after.

Mohg has 80% Fire resistance, so you're actively making the fight harder than it should be by using BB.

Yeah I know he's very resistant to it but I don't have the resources to upgrade another type of weapon. I tried with the Great stars weapons (got 2 of those) for the bleed and it almost worked.

With Mohg it is all about knowing when to roll. I think what From did in Elden Ring is make rolling as time sensitive as parry, so you have to sort of control yourself and not give in to the instinct of rolling reflexively every time you see an attack coming.

Trickiest part for me was that impale trust he does where he shoves the trident into the ground. Unlike his other attacks, which are all mostly delayed, that one was super fast so i had to learn to get ready for it. In the second phase there's an added explosion so you have to remember to roll twice.

Yeah he is ironically very weak to bleed.

Also don't forget to use that tear that nullifies the nihil phase. I intentionally chose not to use it as i wanted a "clean" fight but if you feel you simply can't manage that gives you a ton of free hits during that phase as you are basically immune to his blood drain, enough that he'll start his second phase with very little health left:

I thought that was just if he made YOU bleed. Does he gain attack power when he bleeds himself? That's crazy i guess i'm lucky i learned how not to get hit by him then, heh.

Coming from someone who doesn't use summons, magic, items, spirit, or any form of cheese/tailored builds, Mohg was definitely the second hardest boss for me. I fought everything with just a two-handed claymore and basic light load armor.

As a whole, I found Mohg more difficult than either phase of Malenia, but when you combine both phases of Malenia I think she wins by a good amount.

I feel like two phase fights are way harder than just the sum of the two phases simply due to estus management. That's the only reason why I think people consider Radagon/Elden Beast difficult.

Ok I just beat him, one correction for before though. My great stars weapons weren't that leveled, one was +13 and the other +8. I farmed some 3 and 4 smithing stones, upgraded the second to +12 and finally beat him.

Not really, his second phase is quite chaotic however it's still doable if you manage to stagger him enough times and kill him fast before you get overwhelmed. Malenia is just ridiculous and the only redeeming factor is that she is a secret and optional superboss.
