You also have all the incredibly smart people who thinks the only way to beat the game is by creating the most hideously ugly character.....playing naked and using only a stick combined with ♥♥♥♥ (yeah....pots you know).
Variety is the spice of life, the more you are able to do the better even in Elden RIng. So play it the way you want.
HERESY?! WHERE?!! BROTHER KILL, GET THE HEAVY FLAMER!!!
This game is so cryptic and difficult to understand for the new player and for me magic felt...super clunky and janky my first few times playing. For me learning to "Get Gud" with a melee weapon alone opened the game up in so many ways.
No I understand how to stay alive...and now magic doesn't feel clunky at all! Elden Ring was the first FS game I choose to go Full Faith...I toss sacred on my spear and BAM! My spear is scaling along with my spells...pretty badass! I still feel like I could take the game on full melee if I want to...but I have the range of spells now if I want!
Right now I'm actually playing using a shield, Rogier's rapier, throwing daggers and only leveling dexterity, vigor and endurance. Also not using any ash of war that feels too "magical" and only using the Flask of Wondrous Physick and occasionally some boiled prawn or exalted flesh for buffs. It's extremely fun playing like this, making split second decisions on if I should block, dodge or sneak in a quick attack before the enemy finishes telegraphing their attack, and at least in PvE no healing spell or magical buff is really necessary to win.
And another thing: having all of my flasks being Crimson Tears means I can be sure to be at full health almost all the time, which combined with the ritual sword talisman and the fact I never have to spend time drinking Cerulean Tear flasks can be just as valuable as magical heals or buffs.
The one thing I sometimes wish I could use are incantations to remove status effects, but that's usually more of a minor annoyance rather than a big problem.
Why would i need magic? It's redundant.
That's really a good point. I find that my weapon art out classes almost every spell I have as of yet...more range, less cast time, and it buffs my weapon for a short time....it almost seems silly to pick any other spell over the WA
Its just 20% phys damage buff.
Not using it before bossfights is bad
3rd ER playthrough and even then I barely use it. I much prefer my pully crossbpw as a ranged option.
