What's the worst melee weapon in the game?

For me in PvE i feel its daggers (ofc not using ranged Ashes of war on them)
the range is just horrible and with the bad boss hitboxes you will get hit a ton simply due to a big area around the boss being a hitbox even when the weapon hits completely somewhere else and you need to get close

damage wise normal spears are terrible
but they become godlike with seppuku ash of war

Probably should have clarified, a weapon meant to be used as a weapon haha

Torches having melee attacks is probably a 'just in case' scenario

Varre's Bouquet comes to mind. The damage seemed laughably low even when I had reasonable stats for it.

There aren't really any 'joke' weapons in Elden Ring. The closest you get is perhaps the Cane Sword, which while not exactly useless is outclassed by pretty much every other straight sword for one reason or another. Its reach is bad. Its damage is minimal. It has no special properties.
You could definitely earn hipster points for using it... because no one else does. There's no reason for them to. Even the Weathered Sword and the Shortsword, its competitors among the bad swords, are obtainable at the start of the game. Making them better options since the Cane isn't acquired till Leyndell.

I'd say basic torch, but the elemental damage is surprisingly effective against enemies it really shouldn't be.

Bare fists would be the answer...but there are a LOT less painful ways to torture yourself. Not kidding, it is tedium hell.
