Save file being replaced by an older one
Hi everyone,

Firts of all, sorry if my English is not perfect, I'll try my best to explain my problem, and maybe get an answer.

My save file has been replaced with an older version. This means I've lost tremedous hours of progress, many new characters files and eventually been discusted of Steam. It happens when I've been reinstalling Steam and some of my games. Fortunally, all the others games files had no problem and were on point, with accurate game progress. Only Elden Ring save was outdated.

I've tried to contact the Steam Support (it's been a while now) but it didn't solve anything. They asked me for my "cloud_log" to try to bring it back, but due to the difficulties to discuss with the assistance (not my native language, different persons responding), nothing helped. It seems I cannot contact the Steam Support anymore. I've tried to contact FromSoftware, but it was also pointless.

I've attempted to manually get a backup file, but it was way too old and it didn't bring back all of my progress. That's why I'm posting this request here, so maybe someone has a suggestion.

I really love this game, I'm a huge Souls fan, and I wish I could keep playing Elden Ring, with all of my progress.

Proper thanks to everyone reading this.

Yurius.

You'll probably just have to resume from where your latest save file is unfortunately, but i recommend turning off cloud saves and keeping manual backups periodically from now on.

Make sure cloud save is off as well as its buggy and can cause saves to roll back

if you happen to have restore points created by windows automatically, you may try to retrieve the save from there. but it's a bugged feature iirc (and not even sure if windows 10 still has it) and the backed up files may be corrupted.

Good luck :praisesun:

I've tried this before posting my topic, and I've managed to restore a little fraction of my progress (only one character slot, and incomplete, unfortunatly) due to an already too old backup.

From now one, I've deactivated the Cloud save. I'll do manual backups as suggested.
