Easy GG
Then in second phase I used comet azure at point blank range by moving underneath his body when he falls to the ground to do that AOE firestorm attack.
High risk high reward tactic.
Also I did it with like 15 vigor. basically a no-hit run
So, you come to this conclusion after playing how long?
I played as an astrologer on the first playthrough and found the fire giant to be quite easy. Having played Shadow of the Beast in the 90s, I knew to attack his feet ;)
Again, the game is a "clown game" after how many hours?
You're just venting.
Here's a tip: When underneath him you obviously cannot see what attack he is doing, right? Well not quite, when he attacks he telegraphs with his entire body. Its not complicated, you can hear him breathing in while preparing it, but when the attack itself happens (doesn't matter which) his whole body lurches suddenly, and that is when you dodge.
In phase 2 its a little more difficult, mostly just figure out the sweet spot underneath him to where he won't crush you when he rolls away. It makes things a lot easier.
Anyways... Int-based solution to the Fire Giant... Terra Magica + Comet Azur + Mimic Tear is the standard cheese for most things. Since I'm doing a Faith build this run, I figure I'll just fire off Pest Threads at it from below once I get there.
And if worst comes to worst you can always grab the Jellyfish Shield, upgrade it, and turtle when he starts his Limp Bizkit routine... then power up and blast him.
