How to make the Elden Beast fight not suck?
So I honestly think one of the reasons I've been hesitant to continue with a lot of my new character builds is because on my first playthrough, the Elden Beast was probably the least fun fight in the whole game. I was doing a colossal sword build with the Ruins Greatsword (admittedly this was before they were buffed) and couldn't even get him to half health before dying even after almost a dozen attempts. Switched to power-stanced greatswords and spammed jump attacks, did it in only 3 tries.

Are there any good tips or strategies for making this boss less of a chore to fight?

Excellent video! I'm not biased at all.

My personal advice: Shoot the Elden Beast from far away.

It doesn't move around as much if you aren't up close to it, which makes fighting it way more consistent.

For one thing stop chasing the damn thing everywhere when its trying to run away from you. You cannot stop it, so let it run. When its NOT trying to run, that's when you chase it. A lot of people find the fight tedious solely because they caveman rush it, which its designed to counter.

Ignore some of the comments say that the boss fight is not doable with certain builds, that's only true for bleed builds. Its entirely possible to kill it with slow ass strength builds, I've done it many times, its quite fun.

Respec to dex, that's pretty much the lesson the game teaches you since Maliketh, the game becomes not even remotely doable with slow weapons

Elden Beast as a boss fight sucks. It's horribly designed and I couldn't tell you how to not make it suck.

And I'm saying that even though I beat it on first try with my first character.

Sadly, that seems to be the case. I hate how ever since Bloodborne, they've been nerfing slow weapons in each new game to the point they're basically joke weapons now. Might as well just remove them is they're not going to bother balancing fights with them in mind.

I ain't the best at Souls games, but you can't deny that slow weapons have been falling further and further behind with each new game.

The most important is to have high holy and non physical damage negation.
When the beast disappears you need to turn around and run the opposite direction. This is where the beast will reappear.

People have been ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about UGSs since at least DS2. Meanwhile, I've always completed my first run with the (guts) Greatsword. They've been the same powerhouse as they've always been.

Edit: also, to be clear, I don't dual wield them, which I hear is even better.

best way to kill elden beast is at the start of the fight open up with the black knifes ash of war, bam instant 10% of his health is gone. Then use pest threads and black flame tornado ash of war rest of the fight. Should be dead in under 2 mins.

I dunno what all this is about. the first time I fought it was with a melee character and I had no problems.
last time I fought it, was with spiked caestus only... gave me some more trouble but was still doable.

Pest threads to get it over with.
