So damage negation doesn't do a damn thing, does it?
Fought the Crucible Knight in Siofra River. First try had full Carian Knight armor and Dragoncrest Shield Talisman giving me around 20 dmg negation for everything physical. Second try I took off all my armor, replaced the talisman with Viridian Amber Medallion and had -15 dmg negation from Radagon's Soreseal. It literally did the exact same amount of damage to me.

Except this time I had enough mobility and stamina to evade him. So, what is even the point of armor?

It's a easy questline to miss when you play blind, but you might want to get Boiled Crab from Blackguard.
Give a solid boost to physical resistance. When I go light-load it is most of my negation. When I get chunky, with an Opal tear Physick, I can count on 55% damage negation. It is really worth it in NG+ cycles when the damage dealt keep increasing.
not sure but pierce dmg seem op and powerstanceing generally - they still miss the original powerstanceing-attributes from darksouls 2 - imo the most broken thingy they could do (in DS2 u need more STR or DEX to powerstance a weapon)

and the point of armor is just avoiding a one hit thats all i guess lol and haveing poise in duels

so dmg negation works but only if u stack it like crazy - like vigor plus armor plus talisman plus buff through item or incantation buffs - then u will feel a difference, otherwise its only preventing from gettin 1 or 2 hit lol

i walk with around 47 to 32 resistance to all and still have a big dmg incomeing mostly losing around 75% of my hp throug a strong attack/ talent or a little combo i cant instantly roll away from.

but basicly u can push your hp with all available buffs to around 3000 for a boss fight (not possible as phantom)

*Laughs in Blackflame Protection*

Also Opal tear, despite its description, does not buff physical defense, only elemental. In case you weren't aware.

Damage negation is very good.
Try fighting Radagon and the Elden Beast with and without Holy resist near 50%

The difference is night and day.
20 resist isn't great , you need over 30 for some use , and when you get 40+ then you'll see how beneficial it is.

Especially if you use a shield ontop of it - the lesser damage you usually suffer through blocking elemental damage becomes negligible.
