How bad is it if I had to cheese the Draconic Tree Sentinel?
I got him down to like 10% a lot of times but then just got sick of his utter cheapness.
So far this was the worst designed boss Ive faced out of all of them so I just used the poison cheese.

Now Im just wondering if Im setting myself up for failure for coming boss fights if those are even harder?
Im about to respec so that might just have given me the edge to beat the DTS without cheese but then again I felt every time I died was so random and cheap that even tuning my stats better for my build wouldnt make a difference.

Are the next few bosses easier or might I as well stop playing this game if I hated fighting the DTS?

if you arrived up to this point, it mean you are absolutly capable. Maybe you just can't beat this boss in particular, reach people have their nemesis and sometimes it's unlogical.
On the other hand, if you had him at 10%, you could have probably killed him anyway with a bit more die and retry, so, it's ok i think, the only thing you deprived yourself is the sense of satisfaction, but ultimatly, you gained in exchange the relied of having put him down.

You can always raise your arcane and use the Dragon Communion seal. That way, you can use poison mist while actually fighting a boss! :D

It was a very hard boss for me on my first run. Harder than most bosses. My problem was just 25VIT and weak spirit ash.

There are potentially two NPCs you can summon alongside your Spirt Ash for the fight. So you can fight 4 vs 1.
You can also level up and comeback stronger. Try to have at least 40VIT for this fight and it should be easy.

This guy is one of the harder bosses, most of the "human" bosses tend to be harder than the monstrous ones. For me the worst bosses in the game so far have been the two Crucible Knights in the hero's grave close to him and the Bell Bearing Hunter in Dragonbarrow.

That said if a boss is annoying you, there's no harm in finding an easy way to fight them. There's over 200 bosses in this game, some of them will have that secret sauce that makes it hard for you fight them. Find a trick to beat them and then move on to the next one.

If it helps, when he charges up his weapon in phase 2, don't try to hit him, just dodge until he uses the attack that clears the lightning from his weapon. I had a bunch of deaths from trying to hit him while his weapon was charged. Once I realized the charge clears, I beat him on my next try.

I guess it wasnt the smartest thing that I went in with a +8 weapon lol now im at +15 shouldve tried that before cheesing ah well. I did so little damage he went into lightning mode 2 times when looking on youtube most people have finished him of in his first lightning stage.

Good to know it wasnt just me having a difficulty spike feeling there!

For me as I reach Draconic Tree Sentinel Elden Ring simple become a nightmare. The game is not fun after the Capital.

What Ever it takes. Its your game play it your way:steammocking:

Honestly I've found the draconic sentinels more annoying than the actual endgame bosses, so I can't really fault you too much. They're just not very fun to fight.

You at least got it down to 10%, so you were actually trying to fight it. As long as you keep on with being persistent with bosses, you should be fine.

Let met quote Total War Shogun II: "Shameful display!"

What do you mean with "poison cheese"? Status effects are not cheese.
Why do even still torture yourself with this game?

I barely even remember the Draconic Tree Sentinel. Barely seemed like a boss to me.

But, I don't even want to talk about how many times I died to those stupid trash-tier Resident Evil zombies and their lunge grab. That was the thing that convinced me to dump more points into VIT.

DTS is a brutal fight for RL1. But a lot of fun, if you get the moveset. Dodges have to be quite precise, and the lighting waves in 2nd phase are better jumped then rolled.

I somehow destroyed the one at the Capital Outskirts, I don't remember that one being difficult, but the one at Crumbling Farum Azula gave me trouble. I defeated the latter only after watching a YouTube video that demonstrated what seemed like an obvious strategy (stay on and attack from its shield side).

well . . yes, you lost a chance to improve your positioning and dodge skills as well as engaging and disengaging skills there by cheesing the boss and it will for sure be needed on upcoming bosses so . . . the less you cheese the better you get at it (and he is not even a hard boss tbh, just really anoying sometimes)
