IMO I really liked using the "Barricade" Skill on a shield with a sword in my other hand, and I used a lot of counter attacks. I never bothered with parrying.

If you use a shield, definitely go for guard counter strategies. Two swords will have to rely more on reaction time/memorizing attack patterns and dodging them.
Sword n Board is definitely the easier of the two, but it's still fun and strategic, just a different style.

Two swords work well for jump+L1 and generally spamming regular attacks but with L1 instead of R1.

But if you have some OP weapon with amazing ash of war and that’s how you kill bosses then better to have a shield with that.

With enough stats you can have both and swap when one option will work better.

Thanks

Guard counter strategies trivializes most enemies that don't spam grabs, especially with a greatshield. But by late-game regular swords really do become something of a sidearm just due to the damage everything withstands.

Dual swords does much more damage, but also expends a lot of stamina.

Compared to all of the soulsborne the enemy in this game is much spongier. Literally why most people go dual wield on the late game.

My suggestion is go sword and shield on <lvl 60 then go dual wield after that. Literally that's what I do.

With two swords you attack faster and deal mroe damage and with a shield you can defend, not even considering all the ahses of war you can use with both. Up to you.

2 swords. It's meta in PvP

Who cares about shields when you can dodge?

I only play with a shield but I die very easily. Maybe because I'm trying to defend instead of dodging.

I rarely see anyone with a shield in videos.

Well, I'll try to change the strategy and use two swords.

thank you for the tips

Two swords is better for power-stancing.
Sword and 'shild' are better for blocking.

You do more damage with regular attacks only. It does not affect Weapon arts.

This is true. However with weapons in both hands you can use them both in melee (using L1 on the controller) which deals considerably more damage than what you'd do with a single weapon attack.

For casters it probably doesn't matter all that much. For melees it is important to deal as much damage as possible in the short time frames you have to attack bosses.

And you may even knock the tough normal enemies out before they can do any of their attacks. In the dragon area towards the end I usually managed to kill most enemies in 1-3 hits using L1 jump attacks with two weapons.

Depends on the boss - I switch between 2 thrusting swords, or thrusting sword + shield depending on whether the boss is easier to block or dodge.
Out in the world I keep the shield on for surprise enemies.
