Why do weapons have such stupid range?
Why does it feel in online that you can be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ by a dagger that has the range of a colosal sword? it just feels silly, like im a million years away but the r1 of the dagger hits me from half way across the arena? could this be a netcode issue?

In a nutshell, it's because the netcode is not good. Hit detection against other players doesn't work properly most of the time, there's like a 0.3s - 0.5s delay between when you hit them and they actually take damage or react to it.

I guess the game is mostly a single player game though, so this doesn't matter too much.
This is a misconception. Not everyone lives 300-500 ms away from you. Summon your neighbor and you won't see any delay because the latency is only less than 5 ms.

"Phantom range" look it up. Well known phenomenon caused by P2P connections, and ♥♥♥♥ netcode.

And no, its never gonna be fixed.

The higher latency you have with someone the further their range will appear on your end.

So remember to switch to wifi and jam up your connection with downloads before invading.

its caused by ping and netcode, nothing to do with p2p

p2p does mean wilder variation in connection quality specially with a lack regional matchmaking since the only regions from's games have are Japan and Not-Japan

Thank you. Can't believe this still needs to be explained to some people.

Why does everyone else get insane range and my greatsword gets made shorter than the dagger?

actually had a case where i had a match and all their hits landed immediately and mine took legitimately 20 seconds later before they took damage, they walked around and then just died, tbh it was kinda funny but really sad when i get invaded and it happens
