Hidden mechanics?
Post anything you've found that's not obvious or easy to find out, game mechanics wise (not hidden locations).

- With regular curved swords: L2 holding + press dodge before it finishes = Character attacks then flips backward
- Honed Bolt: Can be chained by repeatedly pressing the attack button (not the only spell this applies to either)
- Holding down the switch item/spell slot buttons instantly brings the first slot to the front
- Anything that "Works on allies" works on spirit summons too

You can kill the Tree Boss in Morne Castle by climbing to the top of the area and chucking fire pots down at it. I found it stupidly hilarious since i should have died.

might be the castle...i dunno. dont care to look.

i remember something about if you swing your weapon near an edge then it will let you fall if it's not a deadly drop, but there will be an invisible wall if it's a deadly drop

not sure if that's correct

You can control the fire spitting pillars in catacombs with Margit's or Mohg's Shackle.

You can stop Gostoc to steal your runes when you find him 2 times on his stalking tour and talk to him.

Tree boss in Castle Morne? I don't remember anything like that, just an orangutan on coke. Did I miss a boss??

Well sleep is not a hidden mechanic per se but.....want to kill riders (except night cavalry of course) and spare the poor horse?.

If you're turned the wrong way with Torrent on a cliff or something and are at risk of falling to your death, take out your binoculars, point yourself the right way, and then you will be safer-ish.

- You can continue attacking a defeated godskin for some seconds to further deplete the godskin duo boss health bar.
- You can open hidden walls with Margit's or Mohg's Shackle.
- kukris are great for distracting or baiting enemies and they fly very straight. if you aim with a bow (without shooting it) and then unzoom, don't move or turn and throw a kukri, you will hit the aimed location almost exactly.
- if you sit on horse back and look through the telescope (maybe aiming with a bow also works), you can turn yourself and the horse in the direction you're looking. Good for reposition for hard jumps.

you can also just jump and then use the 2nd jump to turn around.

Kite the respec gigabear away from his spawn location. The little camp near dragon lake is a sweet spot. Bring a shield. He can't help but turn his back longing for his zombie home...

Weather affects affinity resistances. Rain/water increases fire resistance, while lowering lightning resistance. While standing in water, lightning spells will have their area of affect increased.

Another one I forgot about
- Some grab attacks can be escaped from by rapidly mashing LT+RT (or was it RB+LB?). Runebears for example.

That's one I didn't know. Do you take reduced damage from escaping early?

Well for the runebears it seems that you take a bit of damage from the first two "bumps" which isn't much compared to the third. But I just rapidly mashed one of those combinations (forgot which) and my character was released before the third every time.

In fact I've only ever witnessed the third part via youtube videos.
