both games use EAC so its probably related.
Had a work meeting to go to.
Anyway, Other people using the same network are able to continue using the internet just fine and I'm still connected to my network but my computer says I have no internet access. Nothing from my device can use the internet. Steam, browsers, Discord, nothing. But my phone and other devices show the network and internet working fine. As soon as I close the game, my internet returns.
This is good to know. I will likely look into this. I've had trouble with EAC before and had tried some of the other things mentioned in this thread already. Thanks for mentioning this.
This is good information. So there are three things that come to mind to consider, and maybe try.
1. If you have not done so, reset your Router/Modem. Basically, unplug it and leave it off for 5 minutes or so, then plug it back in. If your Router and Modem are separate, unplug them both. Then start up the Modem first. Then, when it is fully up and running, start up the Router. Test Elden Ring.
2. The other issue is that EAC may have become corrupted itself. This might be fixed by uninstalling EAC and then reinstalling it. I don't have any specific instructions for that, but there are such instructions on the internet.
3. One final thing to consider, since you always have played online. Did you ever receive any items from another player? If so, it is possible that may have triggered EAC. Although if it was an 'official' EAC block, one usually gets a message onscreen to that effect.
4. You mention 'other people'. Are you on a shared network, like at work? If so, it could be that the network itself is blocking access. If that is the case. #1 is obviously not an option and there may be nothing you personally can do about it. ;(
Good Luck!
First, thanks for helping me out with this. Really appreciate it.
1. Definitely tried that. No change.
2. Haven't tried that. Will be my next thing to attempt.
3. I really only ever play with the same friend and we rarely drop anything for each other. I have had EAC mess up before when a file was corrupted and needed to be validated and reinstalled. Scared the crap out of me because I thought I was about to be locked out of online play for good.
4. It's a home network. So wife and kids. None of the other online stuff we do is being blocked, be they games, Netflix, etc. And I used to have no trouble with Elden Ring other than it did seem to disconnect me quite often. I always assumed it was my crappy Comcast internet and Elden Ring being overzealous about any lag.
Thanks again!
Sounds good. I will check back later in evening or tomorrow morning. Try to think of something other than EAC that could be causing this if the uninstall EAC -> reinstall does not work.
By the way, you on direct connect or WIFI? If WIFI, try direct connect first! :)
Best of Luck!
Hi Dark! Welcome back. Want to take it from here? :)
Awesome. I will check back later and see how it is going. If it gets solved, would like to add the solution to my list of 'Things to Try' for next time. :)
Good Luck!
