Yeah I was doing that over and over, finally beat him after maybe the 6th or 7th time.. but fell getting past the archers. Now my runes are way up there by the archers, probably lost. :) I think I felt like I made progress only to get set back farther (lost runes).

Well, just ride past everything and pick the runes up along the way. Even if you lose them, there are more runes to be had. You said you played Demons' Souls and Dark Souls, you should know this.

Take out the archers first or lure the giant to kill them for you. I had problems with it my first play through but now it's very easy to get pass that point with little effort. After playing through the game a few times the game becomes a lot easier and you wonder why it was so hard the first time.

Oh so you're supposed to just run past that whole area without fighting? (Totally forgot about the horse after 8 months.. My save was right there at the spawn point..)

Yes you can just ride from that area, but also yes, these are just easy normal enemies that must be grouped up together to be somewhat of a challenge when you are low lvl without any upgraded weapon.
When you return there after you reach endgame locations with maxed weapon you will see yourself steamrolling over everything there killing everything so fast and remembering how you was thinking that was a boss or mini boss that should not respawn (even tho there is no music, no boss fog, no special name or health bar showing on screen).

Spoiler: a lot of stuff is also mini-boss but turn out to be just regular enemies at midgame or endgame areas but that you will fight at evergaols and dungeons throughout the world, also some "gate keeper mini-bosses" too and mini-bosses that show up only at night and only at certain locations, so try every grace at night and check if "something diffferent" show up, these are mini-bosses so they will not respawn, but also they will not show up unless it is at night or if you met a certain criteria

It's just not fresh like it was back when Demon's Souls first launched and Dark Souls was still riding on that freshness wave. Not for lack of trying to get back into it. Even stepping back 8 months later still isn't moving me to do this grind as interesting as the setting seems. Bounced off DS2 early in. bounced off DS3 early in.. bouncing off ER early in.. I guess I should just come to terms with I'm somehow now permanently burned out on this formula from From Software. It's kind a shame I'd like to see what the game has to offer but I think in my old age my patience for it is too thin at this point to put in the repetitive practice for it. It's too bad there isn't a "story mode" for people that have transitioned over to burnt out.

I wouldn't call it rage quitting though.. probably more like "ugh too sloggish" quitting. If I felt like I could make progress a little quicker so I don't have to do the exact same thing over and over I think I'd be more into it.

It's funny, in other game styles like FPS and ARPG, the repetition doesn't seem to bother me as much. I think it's the general style makes me want to explore the world and the difficulty repetition demanding extreme practice and skill is just getting in the way of the exploration.

This is a great example of what I'm talking about. Thank you for sharing.

Listen up u prob already quit again and, this game is stupid hard with stupid bugs making it, stupid impossible:) but i love it and its the best, just not the best quality of life if you know what i mean...spring is bug, dead. Lock on target targets a critter, dead. Lock on target still on a dead falling corpse, oh, dead before I could turn and switch. Lmfao its for idiots but smart idiots. Enjoy
