Is it possible to beat this game casually?
I bought when when it came out and has like 60+ hours on it, but recently I've been pretty busy studying comp sci and I would really hate to waste this masterpiece of a game. Any way we can beat this game casually?

you can quit out of your current play session at any time as the game autosaves every few seconds. there is nothing stopping you from playing in short bursts in-between your busy schedule.

My playhtrough went 'casual' once I got the mimic, Blasphemous Blade and Finger Print Shield fully upgraded for strength/faith build. I usually only needed two tries max to beat bosses (though I also WAY over leveled my character, which gave the weapons the stats to shred targets)

Yes and No. Over time, you will lose muscle memory of various moves and tactics. But, if you concentrate on just doing one thing at a time, it should be fine. :)

There are tons of easy tasks that will improve your skills, gear, level and such. As you grow more powerful and knowledgeable, things that were previously very hard will become easier.

Yeah, you don't even need to rely on "muscle memory".
Just make a mage build, summon your most aggresive and tanky spirit ash, and let him atract the boss attention while you shoot at the boss with your magic.
This is the easiest way to play if you don't want to get stressed while playing casually.

there are some options:
1 - summon 1 or 2 other players
2 - use mimmic
3 - use other spirit ashes
4 - use spells, incantations, bows, etc to kill targets at distance
5 - use a heavy shield
6 - combine 1+4+5 or 2+4+5 or 3+4+5
Yes.
Use summons, use statuses, use spells. There are even specific ashes of war that strongly trivialize encounters. But I won't cover that since I'm going to assume nuanced game knowledge falls into the more than casual category.

Yes. Use this:

Just make sure to wiggle your controller every 15 minutes to keep the screen on while it plays for you.

Over-leveling also works well. Might as well pair both together.

Well . . . "somehow" your loss (of a good game or of money).

Do whatever, but I personally would not buy this game if I considered myself a casual gamer. it requires that you learn the game, and requires a certain amount of patience to learn the game.

Now there are "broken" things in this game that may or may not trivialize the game for you. But this game is not story heavy, and it's main appeal is its combat and lore, and if you don't take the time to learn either, its going to be boring; this is game was made for nerds.

You'll be like Horse Choker. Play the game for a few hours, get bored, and hardly play a game you paid $60 for.

Start using a greatshield, that's easier than most tactics and still fun enough. Spear is a good offhand weapon for them. It works and doesn't really need much practice to use effectively.

Sorry, don't agree.

As you know, I've been playing this game casually since it came out. I have around 477 hours now and just beat Melania on my first proper playthrough, so it is possible.

I would advise anyone to not miss out on this gem of a game, even if you can only spare a few hours per evening or every few days.

Oh. But why ? No time, performance issues , didn't like the game ?

There is no reason you cannot play this game casually, even without using the OP stuff. Singeplayer is entirely viable in small chunks even if you aren't that good, the later bosses of the game may hand your ass to you a number of times but if you enjoy the challenge when you do actually have time to give the game some time you will not be disappointed with spending your time on this game. Good for you that you are working towards RL goals!

The sweats who say "oh only if you use spirit ashes, summons, op gear" are just the guys who really need this game to sound harder than it is so they can feel like they have an accomplishment in their pathetic lives. You can absolutely beat this game casually, the devs WANT you to beat it, and put in lots of things to explore and discover and certain tactics that will make those tough bosses much easier to beat as you discover them.

I think you'll have to admit that your 477 hours are a good example of requires that you learn the game, and requires a certain amount of patience. That is not a normal amount of time for a single-player game. My winning playthrough took 450 hours, so I'm not saying that's bad or anything. And I had a lot of prior experience.
