Do it a few times.
Depends how you switched to the weapon or what inputs were que'd. Did you have the ghiza wheel equipped elsewhere/recall anything else on the way it all happened?
Basically, when performing a moveswap, the Ghiza wheel skill animation will play, including the sparks and noise of it, but the damage dealt is still calculated by the weapon used.
This resulsts in devastating damage when te moveswap is performed with for example the Serpent Hunter.
