Dexterity can be leveled, but this is not going to improve it too much. If you are going from like 6 DEX to 40 DEX though, it might be a bit faster. Otherwise, my advice is to get the named versions of the ones you plan to use.
The Named ones have the benefit of being castable while "floating", so you can jump or fall from somewhere and interrupt the fall by casting the incants (which is also beneficial as they are mid to long range most effectively, but can be useful up close depending on aim). Additionally, the non-named ones can be used while on horseback, but the named ones cannot except Makar's Magma Breath.
Lastly, they take time, but deal solid sustained damage. Rot is great as Ekzykes is a multi-hit and will generally proc rot on one use. Borealis' Mist is similar for Frostbite. Though Placidusax's Ruin is worth the lengthy casting time if you can land it also - it SHREDS. It ripped Melania Phase 1 apart in like 2 casts and a Borealis Mist, though her whole fight is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mental due to everything I used taking X time to cast so expect her to be tough again without melee.
Though I would also love to see someone use Giant Hunt and just stab the guy out of the air probably killing them.
I tried it and the difference is negligible. I made a arc / faith build and still ended with zweihander and bonking monsters, as it is far superior, then trying to get the breath out :). or i just suck :)
Glinstone sorceries are too much better in almost everything.
Thanks! yeah its always thinkming am I gonna have time to cast it or not, and i usually just decide to go in melee, because mostly, you just dont have time to cast them. THanks for making time for sharing you experience!
No problem - yeah it is a bit of a chore to use them at times as somethings (like revenants) just move seemingly too fast so you need to find ways to deal. Sleep Pots helped me a bunch for example as they seemingly put most things down in 2 or 3. That was what helped me with the Godskins for example.
But yeah, I could have probably compiled a sorta lengthy video of the amount of times I got clipped out of the air by something.
What helped me, was experimenting with the range first. They go pretty far, and my initial issue was thinking I needed to be say - within 10 feet vs it reaching more like 20. Once you nail-down the distance, then you can get a time check on how long they are to cast and can start analyzing how that would fit in vs something like a Crucible Knight (You find out to wait more for certain lunges to roll away from and punish).
Plus - it's always handy knowing which enemies punish flask use. It may sound stupid - but say the Draconic Tree Sentinal horse; if you heal, it fire-breaths. So then you know you can force it into an attack, so then you can work on how to punish it. Others though will be like a boss that jumping attacks and whiffs so bad when done right they look worse than most beginners.
The closes we can get is "Aspect of the Crucible: breath", from Tanith bodyguard
