Can Torrents doubble jump PLEASE reset the fall damage thing?
Title is pretty self explanatory. I've instadied from heights that were like within just a few feet of the normal fall limit after safely doubble jumping half way down.

It's a wierd limitation.

Edit: one user troll baited me by calling me "lazy" for asking for this. So it prompted me to make this video.

You're telling me you DONT think it's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid to instadie right here?

I think it is fine as is, if anything Dragon's Dogma trained me to never trust double jumps to save you.

Game gives non-magicals a Double Jump skill, and magicals get a "Levitate" skill; both advertise as helping to traverse and stuff, but neither would save you from demise (even though levitate let you float around for like 2 seconds at the same altitude).

Edit : put it this way, if you double jump in place, you maybe get 7 feet up. Thus, the Horse probably can only logically take so much impact also on landing (since you are on it and it needs to remain physical lest you just fall through it).

If you then jump off a cliff 100 feet in the air, the horse probably would sooner disappear and just let you die anyway.

actually this is the first game I played where you can't, so it took a while (and a few deaths) to get used to.

Most games didn't need it, like Metroidvanias

Save all ur BS logic arguments, it's literally just you trying to make it easier then trying to wrap logical reasons around it like that's the reason you want the change. You died because you were dumb. No other reason. And now you want the devs to fix it instead of you fixing it. The usual.

Alright. Your troll bait prompted me to make this.

Is it "LaZy" to think it's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid to instadie right here?

This is such a good example, good work. Not only is it annoying, immersion breaking, and weird looking, it also adds artificial difficulty. It's not "hard", it's dumb.

They could have resolved this by decreasing the double jump window so you don't get a false sense of security in the jump height, or make fall damage velocity based instead of height capped. If you're falling at nearly 0mph, why should it kill you?

You/Torrent had a cardiac event

It doesnt make sense OP is right. If youre falling then your momentum is changed back upwards and then you fall again, you would only be falling from height of your second jump not from where you originally fell from

I've noticed that double jumping increases fall damage in some cases.

A fall that would not kill on torrent may kill if you double jump during the fall. It is like double jumping increases the total distance that a player has fallen, even if the actual distance from A-B is unchanged by double jumping.

Imagine if FromSoft tried to make Portal with their backwards ass physics logic

Its made so people don't skyrim climb anywhere they want. But when it comes to an open world. Am I really gonna go across the map or slide down this hill. ? There's areas they WANT you do it. So not letting some times is stupid. But that's jusbuh some stiff

It's very surprising for a lot of new players to suddenly die when the perceived downwards momentum gets reset from the double jump.

However, I doubt they can add it into the game as they probably are aware of ways to sequence break the game if one can avoid fall damage very easily.
And they might think it'd interfere with the intended experience too much, if people could just parkour wherever.
Or already had tested out a version of the game with double jumps resetting fall damage, but felt it made the game a worse experience.

But it's definitely something developers could pay attention to in future games, and maybe develop games around not having much of fall damage going on.

The first time I tried it, I was like, god I hope Fromsoft didn't make this an easy mode to get out of fall damage.

Thankfully they didn't. This is probably one of the top 5 worst suggestions I've seen on this board.

From what i've seen, the game only checks the vertical position difference from take off to landing. Illusorywall on youtube did some pretty in depth checking and concluded pretty fairly that those are the only deciding factors. So no amount of going up or down mid-jump affects the landing damage.

Here's the video for anyone who hasn't seen it.
