Can Torrents doubble jump PLEASE reset the fall damage thing?
Title is pretty self explanatory. I've instadied from heights that were like within just a few feet of the normal fall limit after safely doubble jumping half way down.

It's a wierd limitation.

Edit: one user troll baited me by calling me "lazy" for asking for this. So it prompted me to make this video.

https://youtu.be/Ucr0XB6PCB8

You're telling me you DONT think it's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid to instadie right here?

Yeah, it makes no sense.
Alphard Apr 12, 2022 @ 12:30pm
No, that would break a lot of game zones

Just like double jump in general, then. This btw is a balance matter as i said

Most of my deaths are from falling from BS heights.

general rule of thumb is to never trust Torrent's jumps.

Don't make risky jumps that you know will kill you.

Game makes double jumps not reset fall dmg for area balancing issues (especially due to how some area are heavily connected to others).

Hence the double jump nerf is neccesary.

You can also drop the colored stone thingies to see if they break (which means you'll die) or not.

Tho personally, Just don't risk it.

If it looks steep, it's for a very good reason.

It does, you have an spectral horse, the horse has a function to double jump, also, this game have gravity and fall damage, so it makes more sense that the horse can double jump than you take damage after double jumping, since it breaks momentum.

Sure, it can be balance, but looks ridiculous all the same, and it's fair to criticize.

They might as well as disable fall damage if you could avoid it by simply double jumping

I think the game have much bigger problems than this little inconsistency. Would you have preferred not to have DJ at all? They simply introduced DJ because it looks cool but realized that having DJ save you from heights would ruin the level design and exploration. I think it's a good compromise to have DJ but at same time not being able to do it where you should die

lol exactly.

What the ♥♥♥♥. Sure it was funny in Super Mario 64 to buttstomp your falls to avoid fall damage.

But why on earth should double jumping reset the distance?

You progressively travel up hill entire game

Any dungeons where platfalling don’t have torrent anyways

Just honestly curious, what areas do you mean? I’ve beaten the game and can’t think of one way I could do this to “break balance of game’s progression” if such a thing even exists

It does have bigger issues, but the issue at hand is the double jump, so that's why we were discussing it.

It highly depends on where you jump. There is one site of grace in limgrave next to a ledge that leads down to an isolated beach (slender wayfaerer with an Ash of War patrolling down there), and there doesn't seem to be a safe way down. Jumping from the site of grace down to the nearest ledge results in death at 20 vigor.

Jumping on torrent however, from the same position just results in some health being lost. So it seems torrent negates some damage.

Fair, i was not saying you can't discuss it, just that sound to me a little weird complaining about this particular thing

And summoning a giant goat from the shadow realm to ride on makes sense?
