Apparently there was another ending, which was cut, where the two fingers joined the three fingers and became a hand. Since the two fingers stood for law and order and the three for chaos and entropy, I guess this meant they formed a "complete" being, or hand at least, but whose hand? Maybe we'll get some answers in DLCs.
