I know it can happen the other way around. For example:

In Dark Souls 3 there are only two variants of black knights, the greataxe and greatsword variants, despite the fact that in Ds1 there were four variants. It was actually found out later that the animations and moveset for the standard sword and halberd variants very much exist in the game's code, they just weren't implemented.

Also Pontiff sulivahn was supposed to be the final boss. He also had a phase 3 when his health reached zero.

it has been like that since the early 2000. a lot of dlcs were already on the CD and they were locking it.

Despite the cold shoulder I live for corrective knowledge curves. Yeah that is probably 100% true. My default towards that is two decades in general chat. Think criminal corporate greed ran over any morality in the gaming field many years ago now.
