Im so confused ingame, I dont like Elden ring.
Im a big fan of the trilogy, had played all three games and finished 100% achievments on them.
Bought Elden Ring, and its so confusing... where do you go... what do you do.. some weird dungeons, plants... grinding... they turned a dark souls game, into an MMO-Wonnabe.

So far i dont like elden ring, the linear soul games were way better.
Yes you had like 2-3 paths that you could go, but you knew that path 1 - has strong mobs
path 2 has weak mobs, so you went path 2, because you were under leveled and undergeared for path 1.
But in this game, everything is hard, no matter what direction you go.

So far 4 out of 10 for me.

Open world means anything to you?
Of course you are free to like linear more but the freedom this game gives you is "something amazing ahead" :praisesun:

I can understand you if this was dark souls 4, but this isn't dark souls 4, this is elden ring where they wanted to try something different. The whole map mechanic says "This is where progress is, go here" but you don't have to, it is now an open world, go where you want to go, they even shoved up the tree sentinel at the start to show you that "You don't have to progress linearly, its ok to go around and do something else now.".

Elden Ring is a souls like, where they tried a different approach.
Elden Ring isn't Dark souls.

If you cant figure out the HUGE GOLDEN PIXELS over every grace fire point in the direction you should go than you are truly lost and its no wonder you cant enjoy an open world...

4/10 is a little extreme for a simple thing like not knowing where to go. The game directs you to points of interest and NPCs make it pretty clear. If you can't handle a fight, go explore and upgrade your weapons.

There are, quite literally, big ass arrows pointing you the correct direction. This is a you problem, not a game problem.

If you wanted completely linear progression you shouldn't have bought a game whose main selling point is "its like dark souls, but OPEN WORLD." :steamfacepalm::steamfacepalm::steamfacepalm:

classic case. straightline casulgamer damaged by handholding trough questmarkers that tell them where to go next. unable to think for themselfs on where to go. unable to enjoy freedom due to years of handholding on the market of open worlds.

elden ring comes and dares to oppose that crap and NO SUPRISE IT WORKS AGAIN today just like it worked back in morrowind. but only for the people who actually know good open world games.

Elden Ring is a fantastic game when you learn to build, use armor and combine weapons that can be especially awesome!

You can check some of that out in my latest Youtube video where I use a faith build to have fun during a New Game + !

the game is missing a quest log which is a common thing in other OW RPGs.
