Most bosses i beat on 1st or 2nd try. She was the only one who I failed 10+ times to and when I beat her it felt really good. As opposed to all the other bosses which felt too copy paste of eachother. I beat her with the starscourge great sword dual wielding and no spirits as I purposefully never got the bell in my game.
It's definitely not the hardest soulsborne boss either. Just the most fun and best designed one to fight in ER.
Yeah sorry for not posting something you personally care about instablemonster, i'll try to study the forums, read up on what is common on here and avoid posting that kind of stuff to avoid upsetting you.
I just generally don't have the patience for that while the game has constant framerate issues. Minor, but it interferes with gameplay nonetheless.
Lore wise though, its downplayed, but she's a narcissist living in her own little fantasy. One where her brother will come back to her (which will never happen) and one where she has never known defeat solely because she never acknowledged it when she did.
Damn you sound like a pretty good player. I can usually beat most bosses within a few tries but I def don't beat every boss in this game 1st or 2nd try; that is impressive. Some of them like that Astel Naturalborn of the void have a 1 shot kill move that imo is hard to dodge, gets me, and it's difficult to hit as a melee and so it becomes a marathon. Another boss I struggled with was the one on top of that volcano that does all the gravity damage.
I think my gripe with Malenia is the health regen even on blocks. That's the only part that seems OP but I'll just have to keep at it. Thanks for sharing that perspective
I never did figure out how to dodge it completely if she did it right next to me (I've seen the video of how to do it by circling her, I couldn't figure it out so I didn't bother), but I figured out how to get it down to her only hitting me twice, and if she has a move that taxes 1/4th of my hp that she uses 3-4 times and I'm far away from half the time she uses it, that's not really a challenge.
I actually found the one where she creates phantoms of herself to be more bs. If you try to hit her first, and she does that while you're hitting her, unlike with most of her attacks she can't be staggered out of its startup and its instant so you can't dodge it, and if you get hit by that start up you're directly under her with your camera stuck in the ground and you've got like 8 attacks to dodge (a couple of which roll catch you if you're not in the right position). But she uses that move like one time, and if you're not directly under her feet its easy enough to dodge.
So all in all I liked her. Honestly I don't like most of the bosses from fire giant on, but she was actually fun to figure out (or come close to figuring out, because as I said I still never fully figured out the flurry or the one where she spawns phantoms of herself). She was by far my most deaths (something like 25 deaths, took like 3 hours. Margit is the only other boss I had any where close to that many deaths on and unlike him I didn't fight Malenia underleveled).
Cause you guys are desperate to make her look like an egomaniac, yet when you defeat her, she genially praises you for doing so, not making any excuses or lashing out, she accepts her death and sees you as an equal.
The only thing she laments is leaving Miquella alone, which also explains what her main motivation is, doing all she can for him, even if it means destroying herself in the process.
