Mohg Lord of Blood "gimmicks"
I think I was pretty underleveled and underupgraded the first times I fought the Lord of Blood back when I found the warp to that area.

Then recently, I decided to come back and realize I still don't really know wtf I'm doing.
Then it occurred to me:
-I have a shackle item
-I have a tear related to Mohg

Ah yes, a gimmick boss. Time to kill him and figure out what that body is behind him once and for all.

Shackle only works twice. Doesn't work in phase 2.
The tear deflects the bleed effects from the transition, but doesn't stop the healing.
I say ♥♥♥♥ this boss, I'll come back later. Lemme clear the bottom area with the giant lake of blood since I already killed that guy who gives you the invading finger items.

White mask invades anyways.
Kill him.
White mask invades again. I aggro some dogs.
Kill them all.
White mask invades again.

♥♥♥♥ this place. ♥♥♥♥ this boss lol.

The thing behind the boss is Malenia's twin brother, Miquella.

You can use the shackle 2x, yes, and the second time I suggest you use it when he is close to 50% HP and then attempt to stagger break it as he is getting up. The hits from attempting to stagger plus the critical will allow you to burst him down and then follow up slamming him while he does his special healing effect to further mitigate recovery. You should be able to end him with like 30% or less HP for phase 2.

Definitely one of my least favorite fights because his blood hit detection is BS at times. Just do your best to hug him in phase 2.

I'm still trying to figure out how to dodge his blood splatter attacks. I killed Mohg the Omen without quite understanding how to react to the arcs.

And yeah thanks for the tips. I'm still trying to figure out the optimal usage times. That's the thing with this game. Because of the open world nature, I don't have to try so hard throughout the game. And then occasionally, I'm like wait, I can't just brute force and lay on damage before I die here. I need to actually learn the boss XD

Strictly speaking you don't need the tear to avoid the blood loss. I believe the ash of war "vow of the indominable" will allow you to I-frame through all three "nihils".

Or at least it did. I haven't checked since the last few patches but it should still work since it essentially removes your hitbox for about a second. Might keep him from healing?

Never occurred to me that you'd be able to iframe through it. Interesting...

Well technically speaking its not I-frames. Your hitbox is straight up gone while the animation is active.

oh snap, for reals? I'll have to check if I have it. That's a pretty nifty effect :Batcat:

Unfortunately it costs 20FP for each use. There is a reason no one uses it lol.

I'm highly doubtful you can 100% reliably no hit dodge his wide arc splatter at a distance without a tear/talisman iframe buff or something like Bloodhound Step. I just did him the other day (both versions actually) on my RL1 +0 weapon run and that was the part that gave me the biggest trouble. The same for his flying wide arc splatter. It is the only attack in the entire game I've never been able to reliably dodge regardless of practice and I'm suspect the hitbox is either screwed up or not aligned with the visual properly.

The solution was to sim ply stick very close to him and if you need to heal get behind him and heal. Treat him similar to Deathrite Bird. For second phase also try to stay under him because he will miss due to going into the air and is easier to position/dodge rather than at a distance.

For usage times I feel using the first shackle charge at start is ideal that way you can guarantee an opportunity for the second otherwise if you do too much dmg after the first one you may not only skip him to phase 2 missing using the second charge but also not set him up properly to be as damaged going into phase 2 to begin with due to improper timing vs health. For the tear that resists his nihil just use at the very start. Battle should be short enough it will easily last as long as necessary.

Moghwyn's Palace is actually meant to be accessed through the consecrated snowfields. That area is recommended for like level 120 or above which is pretty damn high.
